Shed Antlers

I've seen quite a few Bucks that still have their antlers. Many differnt areas, nort/south metro and south western Wisconsin. Saw a Large beamed 12 pointer south of Ellsworth wisconsin yesterday.

Going out for the first official look of the season in two weeks. Hopeing for some warm weather to melt some snow. Has anybody ever looked around the big bog area just south of Rogers access on URL?

Still waiting for the bucks in my area to shed. Uncles have seen many racked bucks recently so when they give me the 1 horned or confirmed no horned then I'll hit the trails again.

how do you hang the single sheds? I can't quite tell in your pictures. I've got some sheds that I want to hang in my shed, just haven't decided how to do it. Do you organize them by year or size? Do you mark them at all?

We take leather laces that are made for boots. We get the antler colored laces, tie and knot around the base of the antler. We use screw in hangers for i believe pictures. But we take a wire cutter and snip the end that hangs up. Then we gently hang the antlers from the leather laces onto the screw in hanger. Hope that makes sense.

For our antlers the are matching sets, we take the lace and tie the antlers together and hang them.

The whole process works pretty good. Hope that helps.

Just went uptown and this kid was holding one of the largest sheds I've ever held in my hands, monster, they are busy trying to find the other.

Vister, they are nasty, I run over every one I can. I hear they can give horses some sickness or something, might have to do with their feces in the horses feed or hay or something. So Vister, crush those playin dead possoms, glad they haven't crossed the Mississippi too much yet to the west although around Little Falls I've been seeing some west of the river this year, ish.

Saw 8 deer today, three bucks. A spike and fork with rack in tact. 8 pt. with half the rack missing. Hope to find it.

Alright whose ready for the snow to melt? It was getting to be close to the perfect year for sheds and then it had to snow 3-4 more inches. Heading up to the cabin this weekend to check things out.

Well Lunge saw 3 bucks this weekend with full racks, I keep checking on the corn fields where I've been seeing them and in my area the snow meant very little, many bucks still with racks. Won't be long now though. Uncle saw 5 bucks this weekend checking for horns, soft snow with the crust under foot he said he walked up on quite a few. He did say 1 deer he saw he was pretty sure a buck that had shed so the game is on once this stuff melts down some.

I saw a buck on the way to work today. Still sporting both sides. I also saw quite a few deer out feeding around the noon hour today... sure is fun just to watch them!

My dad and I where out yesterday for a few hours checked the feeders and walked a while. Didn't find any sheds although the camera did show us that a buck near by had lost his antlers due to the nice side veiw if his head.

Should have read this thread before going out this afternoon. I figured they would have dropped by now. Guess not. Hope I didn't blow any chances.

You guys that find some better sheds - do you find them on or near main trails or do the bigger bucks still travel off to the sides like during hunting season?

I just grabbed my T-Cam saturday, put it over a spring of water that never freezes in my swamp from Feb. 22-Mar. 7th, had 275 deer photo's and I'd give it roughly 8 antlered bucks. No wonder I can't find any sheds, they just began in my area and most are still carrying them, they do have a much more bleached white look to them. Waiting on a friend to send the pics. my way, we downloaded on his computer, if you want to see the pics e-mail me and I'll send you them. 1 appears to be a real decent 10 pointer. Or if someone wants to post them on here I'd send them your way, but picking the buck ones out of 275 pics might take a bit of time. Cam is pulled for the year.

Seen 3 buck in the south metro this weekend while out. one with both sides and two that were single. Been a tuff year for me so far. Olny 1 shed but did find a nice 10 pt skull back in january up north. Hope to find a few yet.

Went out last weekend. Very nice weather despite too-tall talking about "a mixed bag of precip". No sheds though. I was looking west of Bemidji and south of Solway. Found about 4-5 nice yarding areas, but no sheds. Looked through a decent part of a new clear cut with so much sign I couldn't stand it. No sheds.

I jumped 7-8 deer but couldn't see if they had racks on or not. Now with all the snow it will probably be close to April before I give it another shot.

I was down in Iowa the last couple days and put in a few hours. I did see two bucks with both sides, but I believe most have shed them. I ended up adding 5 antlers for a total of 8 so far. Here is a pic of them.

A friend in Iowa picked up this nice 200 inch non typical set on his land. Nice color and no chews!
