And right in the e-mail it says to absolutely not re-submit the information or report the band a 2nd time. I wonder what will happen...

As for the phone people, ugh, I had to correct her like 5 times because I swear she had dung in her ears. Very frustrating!

Ha ha ha!! Probably the same gal I got on the phone when I reported my band in early season. I had to spell out Detroit Lakes 2 times at least and had to repeat nearly everything.

Info on my first banded goose..

Banded 08' in the Ponsford MN area.

I took and put it on my 8 year old son's calls that he practices with.

Was hunting Lac Que Parle lake this weekend and driving back to the landing saw something bobbing in the weeds so I told my buddy "Hey I think that is a dead goose over there in the reeds, go over and look it could be banded or something."

So we got over by it and realize it is a dead pelican but low and behold it was banded! Called it in and am very interested to hear where it was from, etc.

We suspected some yahoo shot it and left it lay. The band is huge and it went on my lanyard with my other 5 duck and goose bands.

Quote:
Is it cheating to take the band and put it on a different bird when I do get one worthy of mounting?

shoot another duck just like that one and is in full plummage and put the bands on em but it may feel a little different. I would put em on mallards cause they look cool....or on the laynard.

Got the info yesterday on the two geese I shot a couple of weeks ago that were both banded. They were both banded near Ruthven, Iowa on June 27, 2007. Both too young to fly at the time. I shot them northwest of Worthington a bit. I shot a banded goose in 2001 and 2002 and they were both banded by the same guy who banded these two. Those two were banded in the Spirit Lake, Iowa area. Thought that was pretty cool.

I got the same email message a few of you have gotten:

Unfortunately, we cannot process your report immediately. This is due to one or both of these reasons:

1. There is a discrepancy or potential error in your report that will place it in a hold file until time allows us to work on resolving it.

2. The bander has not yet submitted the data for this band so we are unable to process your report at this time."

Hopefully they will figure it out and send it out later.

Boedigheimer, hopefully I get into a blizzard of ringnecks like you did over the weekend...I'm going to be in your neck of the woods. Nice pile of ringbills.

Quackaddict, that's where that goose was shot, near Leonard. I do most of my hunting near Leonard actually. You should shoot me an e-mail, curious about some stuff... mjbreuer @ charter . net

Da, you'll get your cert. shortly. That message is apparently meaningless...

I just got both of my bands back. One was banded in thief river about 3 weeks before i shot it and the other was banded in Pennslyvania (sp) 4 years ago. That was the one with double bands. That thing was in a different flyway at one time, crazy where they go. Both were drake mallards.

Yo Dan z nicely done, just wondering what kind of a honker is that, the giant ones at 9 years of age would appear I think to be much larger, is that an EPP bird or a cousin type to the Giant Canada ? Nicely done and more luck to you on your next adventure !

My father-in-law got a double banded drake mallard in North Dakota last weekend. He was hunting by himself for the weekend, man was he pumped. One band was from Maine and the other was a $30 reward band. This bird went right to the taxidermist. He is curious to see if this bird was captured and banded twice or if both bands were put on at the same time. None the less a double band has to be a great feeling.
