July Challenge - Water Activities

Recommended Posts

What wonderful pictures this month - looks like everyone is having fun! Thank you all for sharing - we may need to pull this thread up again in say February, to help us remember why we stay in this wonderful state smile

I actually had trouble picking a favorite this month - we spent a week camping with our kids and grandkids at McKinley Park on Lake Vermillion. I have lots of shots splashing in the water, climbing on the rocks in the water, etc. None are "spectacular" - all hold great memories.

One of the favorite activities all week was catching/examining rusty crayfish. We even did a little educating the kids on this invasive, non-native species. This shot is a morning crayfish excursion...

Lake Superior clear....

View of the rocks the kids were collecting and throwing at the 'big' lake, always a favorite for them. Silver City, MI.

I thought this month was gonna be easy. Wrong again, though most of you make it look that way.

Didn't come up with a great photo, so I put one up of a great time. Our annual "Root Beer Float" on the upper St. Croix River.

Agreed, we have a cabin north of Grantsburg. The river up there is always inviting.

Where in Oakdale do you live? We are off Hadley & 50th, across from the new fire hall.

Here is mine. Waited until yesterday to shoot it. Tubing on South Center for the family get together. My cousin and his fiance were on the tube and she got the sore end of the ride.

Tom, fess up. You were piloting the boat and you planned to dump her. All for the sake of one monthly challenge photo. You are a callous dude! gringringrin

Just ribbin ya, buddy. gringrin

Hope her face has time to heal before the wedding. It's amazing how hard water can be when you hit it at any speed. Ouch! I just photographed one in which the groom dove into the shallow end of a swimming pool the night before the wedding, and even three weeks later at the second reception/wedding dance had a few scars to prove it. Can you say photoshop? shockedshocked

She survived plenty well. And no worries, they just got engaged a couple weeks ago so it will be a while before the wedding. Just for fun, here are the next two from the sequence.

No face planting here but I still think this could be classified as water activity. Picture is at King William Narrows at Crane Lake. Subject is my wife of 31 years, I call her my bright spot. april08159.jpg

Photo is unedited point and shoot, any suggestions on editing, etc would not be unwelcome.

My 3 year old daughter "Caitlin" in the middle, taking her first tubing ride with her friends Katherine (left) and Abbey (right) at my friend Stans cabin. She lasted for quite a while, I was impressed.

    • By The way that didn't work either!! Screw it I'll just use the cellular.
    • It’s done automatically.  You might need an actual person to clear that log in stuff up.   Trash your laptop history if you haven’t tried that already.
    • 😂 yea pretty amazing how b o o b i e s gets flagged, but they can't respond or tell me why I  can't get logged in here on my laptop but I can on my cellular  😪
    • I grilled some brats yesterday, maybe next weekend will the next round...
    • You got word censored cuz you said        B o o b ies….. haha.   Yeah, no… grilling is on hiatus for a bit.
    • Chicken mine,  melded in Mccormick poultry seasoning for 24 hours.  Grill will get a break till the frigid temps go away!
    • we had some nice weather yesterday and this conundrum was driving me crazy  so I drove up to the house to take another look. I got a bunch of goodies via ups yesterday (cables,  winch ratchet parts, handles, leaf springs etc).   I wanted to make sure the new leaf springs I got fit. I got everything laid out and ready to go. Will be busy this weekend with kids stuff and too cold to fish anyway, but I will try to get back up there again next weekend and get it done. I don't think it will be bad once I get it lifted up.    For anyone in the google verse, the leaf springs are 4 leafs and measure 25 1/4" eye  to eye per Yetti. I didnt want to pay their markup so just got something else comparable rated for the same weight.   I am a first time wheel house owner, this is all new to me. My house didn't come with any handles for the rear cables? I was told this week by someone in the industry that cordless drills do not have enough brake to lower it slow enough and it can damage the cables and the ratchets in the winches.  I put on a handle last night and it is 100% better than using a drill, unfortatenly I found out the hard way lol and will only use the ICNutz to raise the house now.
    • I haven’t done any leaf springs for a long time and I can’t completely see the connections in your pics BUT I I’d be rounding up: PB Blaster, torch, 3 lb hammer, chisel, cut off tool, breaker bar, Jack stands or blocks.   This kind of stuff usually isn’t the easiest.   I would think you would be able to get at what you need by keeping the house up with Jack stands and getting the pressure off that suspension, then attack the hardware.  But again, I don’t feel like I can see everything going on there.
