Doonbuggy
Gotta put on the 2010 sticker on the boat. Wondering if there is something effective that is used to take off the old one. Thanks.DB
JIGGIN'
Are you taking it off Glass or Aluminum? Alloy, I would try a heat gun lightly and see what happens. Only do this if you will not melt any plastic areas and/a gunnel bumper. If you can get the sticker off, there will be some residue that you can then take off with Goo Gone. Or you can use mineral spirits. Glass, carefully scrape with a plastic credit card and then use the goo gone. Any which way, you may end up with some scratches, just take it easy and make every attempt to cover up the same spot as last time.
NELS-BELLS
Why do you have to take off the old one? Just put the new one on top of the old one. Or is the new one smaller?
bassNspear
GOO Gone works very well. We use this all the time. Will help get everything off the glass before you replace it with the new sticker.
riverrat56
I always just slap the new one on over the old one.
bassNspear
bad thing about that is that if your new one starts to come off a bit, then it will show the old sticker that is under it. Jigg said, use a credit card to get it off, and then a product to get the rest off.

Northlander
Make sure to use a plastic razor blade. Then goo gone the left over sticky mess. I just put my new one on over the old ones. Never had a problem. After my next one I will remove the other 2.
Wish-I-Were-Fishn
Careful with the goo gone. It may take the paint off an aluminum boat!Had this happen on my old rig.
Tom7227
Insure it with that outfit that keeps bragging about the replacement policy and then go ahead and use a blowtorch!!
CASTnBLAST
If you have access to one of those hand held clothes steamers they work excellent even better than a heat gun since more often than not the glue comes off with the decal, amazing little device for such a task. PerchJerker
I have always used blow dryers for hair and have never had to use goo gone or any kind of cleaner afterwards.
rodmaker
Use a hair drier. Put it about 2 inches away from it. It should peel off easily. after that, use rubbing alchol to take off the tacky feel or goo gone.
Grant
on bare aluminum, I go to the you-do car wash, and blast the sticker.. I don't know if I would do this on a painted surface however. might have unfortunate results.
bassNspear
ya, you might be in for a deep pocket books when it comes to this idea?
RiverBassGuy
We use a heat gun for removing all stickers. Be sure to add heat slowly and use rubbing alcohold or GOO GONE to remove the excess glue.
