Jason, are you looking for the hard cover or the vinyl type? I just purchased a Truxedo brand. My son and a few of his buddies have then for a few years and have had no issues with the cover.

I was told the Truxedo is a very good brand and am happy with mine for the week I have had it.

I used to have an one of the hard access roll up covers and that thing was sweet. I loved it, a bit spendy, but it worked great. They take a little room out of the head of the bed on the top, canister style, but I never had an issue with that.

The access roll up cover is hands down the best. You can pick it up at Radco. If see someone driving down the freeway and their tonneau cover is flapping in the wind, that is 9 times out of 10 it is a Truxedo. The velcro only lasts about 2 to 3 years. i have had the Access on two different 150s for a total of 5 years and it still seals great.

Walleye71, not really true. If they dont have it adjusted right, then yes, it will flop. I know some guys that have had them for 5 plus years and they are just fine and no flopping issues at all.

I have used his truck and hauled gear many times and nothing has got wet yet to date. One needs to have it adjusted correctly and installed right from the get go. If one does not have the side rails mounted right, then yes, water will get under the top and the wind will affect it.

I've got an Access on my Sierra. Been on there for 5 years and 140,000 miles. Velcro is still as good as new and fits tight as a glove.

The "Which Tonneau?" is better has been discussed many, MANY time here and you'll have a hard time finding any negative comments about the Access brand of covers, Truxedo on the other hand is split with likes & dislikes.

Access is made by Agri-Cover out of Jamestown, ND. I figure if they can make tarps and covers for semi-trailers that stand up to daily use in the trucking industry, it'll probably work just fine for my daily driver pickup truck.

Get an Access. Yes they are expensive but you get what you pay for. Had the same one on my last two trucks, it came with a 91 chevy I bought and the guy said he put it on when the truck was new. I put it on my 97 when I traded and ran it till 3 years ago when I sold the truck, the velcro was about shot but it was 14 years old so I was pleased. I bought a 1 year old one at Haydays last year for $125. Ive been told by the dealer the new Access covers have a lifetime warranty on the velcro now, so thats something to consider.

I have the access cover. I spent hours on the web looking at the different models and I really like this one compared to all the others. What sold me was a guy I know had on that was at least 8 years old and still fit and the velcro hadn't worn out yet. Can't beat that kind of longevity.

Another voter for the Access cover. Had mine on my 99 chevy and when I got my 2004, I kept it and put in on. is about 7 years old and velco is still as good as new. If you adjust it when you install it, will stay nice and tight. Have two family member that have access on their truck and also have had no problems. grin.gif

Im on the other side of the fence. I have a hard cover and want a topper. I just want more room for ice houses, hanging fishing rods etc.

Bassnspear what kind of truck to you have?

For security of my stuff I really like the hard cover. I can lock it and dont have to worry about someone cutting it up.

As far as wanting to haul bigger gear I like the roll up styles because you can roll them all the way to the cab. I cant do that with my hard cover.

One thing is I havent had to haul others junk around since getting the hard cover. ;\)

Access here. Have had it for 8 years on two different trucks, and over 200,000 miles combined. It is showing it's wear now, but it lasted over twice as long as anyone expected. The Truxedo looks very similar. My bro-in-law has that one. Not sure how it will last being it is so new yet.

Access all the way! I have an Access cover on my F-150 supercrew for 5.5 years. This winter in the cold the vinyl cracked a little when rolling up. I called Access this spring and they sent me new vinyl within 2 days to replace it. The vinyl is covered for lifetime aslong as it is still on the orginal vehicle. My velcro is as strong as it was on day one. Now my cover looks like new again.

Awesome customer service!

I had only made the comment about the Truxedo because my dad had one and he got rid of it after three years because the velcro wouldn't stick. He actually went back to a topper. I notice that I'm doing all the hauling now. DOH!

I had an Extang for 3 years before I got my topper. I had no issues with it at all (other than being tough to get on in the cold). It still looked as good as new when I sold it. They're less expensive than the Access covers, and the one I had didn't use velcro or snaps. I liked it and hated to get rid of it, but I just needed the extra height for my portable and other various fishing gear as well as the added security of a locked door so I found a good deal on a used topper.

I sell Truxedos like crazy for the past 4+ years and I haven't gotten one complaint yet. I have also sold many Access covers also. Truxedo's material is a little bit thicker than Access's, but I think both of them are pretty good. If I remember right both companies have a lifetime warranty, don't hold me to it though, I have to go check.

I have an Access on my truck and I'm very happy. If you plan on transporting anything I wouldn't buy a hard cover, you will ahve to remove it all the times. New vinyl are very strong and durable, don't "cave" in as the older ones since crossmembers are better engineered.

When you need to haul that dishwasher, refrigerator, or 4 wheeler just roll it up and you're in business.

Just be sure not to get the type with snaps, they are a pain to fasten in cold weather. Velcro is the best.

Best of all it will save $$ by gaining at least 1mpg while driving.
