"Windy" you're crazy. I'm a die hard Sox fan (Evergreen Park here!) but Wrigley field is a classic, must see establishment. Since they tore down my beloved Woody (Comisky), there is no cooler park in the midwest.

That said:

1-Chicago

2-San Francisco

3-International Falls (in your rear-view mirror on the way Voyageurs)

4-Seattle

5-Eugene

6-NYC

Task away, Irving

But tell me, what is so "classic" about a horribly crowned field with no drainage that has terrible sight lines, horrible seating, no sky boxes, no parking lot, terrible food and horrible club house facilities (players hate to play there, well known fact).

Is it old, yep, it is old. Just ask the fans that have had concrete fall on their heads. Are there vines, yep, there are vines...so what? If I want to see relics I will go to Italy!

You got to admit, for going to see a game, ease of parking (and safety of your car), food choice, seat comfort, great site lines and entertainment between innings that Wiggly Field can't hold a candle to The Cell!!!

PS: No hard feelings, especially to a fellow south sider. My grandparents lived in EP on 101st just behind Monaco Drugs for 50 years!

I've been to both Wrigley and the Cell, and the only thing that was good about the cell was the nachos. Wrigley bleachers had a great atmosphere. Then again I liked the old County Stadium better than the new Miller park for atmosphere.

Rundrave,

First you complain about being "horded up and pushed through barbed wire fenced areas to get to a baseball stadium" and then you said there were 500 people in the stadium.

My questions to you would be this: How long did it take to "hord up and push thru 500 fans"? Fences are for security purposes. People pay more for secure parking. Wiggly field has 0 secure parking, you are left to all the bums and hobos who want to charge you $50 to watch your car and God help you if you don't pay them. You will come out to find your car keyed, tires flat or gone entirely if you don't pay. Or you can park 3 miles from the park and hike it thru "boys town".

And I have a T-Shirt as well: It has a hand giving the single finger salute (the middle finger has a World Championship White Sox ring on it) and it says F**K You Cubbies! 100 Years of Frustration.

Go to Kansas City in early summer before it gets really hot. Go to Kauffman on a friday night and see what it feels like to sit in a real ballpark. Friday nights are fireworks night, best night to go. KC also has a ton of stuff to do- The Country Club Plaza (US first shopping complex), Cabelas in KCK, Westport for nightlife (midwestern Bourbon St) and don't forget the absolute best BBQ in the entire country. Wonderful thing about Kansas City is the fact its a short drive from Minnesota, and you wouldn't regret going one bit.

Estes Park, Colorado

I was there once. My wife is from Loveland, CO and couldn't stop talking about this town so we went. Wife had to go to the clinic there for something and there was 6 mule deer standing outside the front door about 10 feet away. Elk were also roaming in town, especially on the golf course.

Dtro,

Look back on the thread and you will see that Geno fired the first shot! (He started it, Mom! LOL)

I was happy to talk about Vegas and by the response I see that many people agree. The city that has it all, baby!

PS: I have been to Estes Park and I would agree that it deserves a spot in the top 5 for views but not much else. We did the drive and it was awesome.

Wild,

Where you staying? Should be a blazer in July, probably 100 degrees + but the casinos are always 72 degrees with free drinks!!! Have fun. Be sure to hit the buffet at Mandalay Bay, Planet Hollywood and Bellagio. They are top notch.

We usually fly in early morning and pick up our rental car (always a Sebring convertible) and we head away from the strip to Red Rock Canyon, great drive and great views for photo taking. Then we continue into the desert to the town of Pahrumph where they have a winery that will personalize your bottles of wine that you buy. We pick up a case or two for gift giving. Really good wine and not a bad price, usually $10-15 and they have a restaurant that is dirt cheap and good. They will actually serve you one of your bottles of wine and they don't charge extra for doing it, nor do they mark it up like most places do. By the time we finish our lunch our wine is finished and we head to the strip. This place is about 51 miles from Vegas so it is a nice trip. They also have a tour of their winery but we have been on it before so we just head back and get to our hotel right in time for check in, usually around 2 pm. Just a thought if you are renting a car and want to spend a half day somewhere other than in a casino!

There is nothing better than sitting in the poker room at the Mirage with a few racks of "high society" sipping on a free cocktail and bluffing your arse off! LOL

Hode everyteen preese!

Mommie,

I did NOT start any such thing as a my ballpark is better than your ballpark. I merely set the trap and Windy took the bait and ran with it. Re-read my post and you will see it was on topic, but an open invitation to Windy to respond knowing full well he would rant and rave and whine and cry.

Glad to see some others agree Wrigley is nice to visit.

Windy,

get some new material please.

And back to being close to topic, I forgot to mention a few other trips:

Cody, WY (and Yellowstone) - big ol' buffalo almost stampeded my father-in-law when he got too close taking its picture

St Joe, MI - some great steelhead fishing there

Port Washington, WI (and Milwaukee) - close to home on scenic Lk Mich

UP, MI (specifically Crystal Falls/Iron River) - pretty darn close to the snow capital of the midwest but not being a winter guy, I'd need another retirement home for about 9 mos

Norris Lake, TN - huge reservoir and in summer it has got to be the world's biggest bathtub....tubing, jetskiing, and pontooning with the family was lots of fun - but I hate snakes and at $4/gal for gas, I wouldn't do it now!

Denver,CO - several business trips but never did go skiing...figured I was too old to end up with my first broken leg.

Geno,

I know I didn't start it. I was just agreeing with you that The Cell is the nicest park in the MLB. Unless, of course you are disagreeing and say that Wiggly is the best, in which case YOU WERE STARTING IT!!!

Now who took the bait, the pray becomes the predator!
