July 1st, as of last year.July 1,2007.

The legislature must have voted the amendment in to change the length of the license period/season, on this date.

Are the shelter Licenses Good until 4/30/08 also ?

I have a perm out where I can leave it on the ice until the 3/15 . Otherwise I have to get a license for it and put it on this weekend.

shelter licenses have not changed. 2-29 south of 200/2 and 3-15 north of 200/2

I am not sure if you need a new license if you are pulling it off each day...

I glad this finally happened, it should be that way, hated having to buy a new license half way through hard water. April 30th is weird though, walleyes close mid april,up north that is, I know pike an crappies are continous. Boar

I believe you are correct. What a mess this has turned out to be. It's about time the DNR got it together and made it this way. Are they going to have a free month too? If you buy a license in Iowa or South Dakota within a month of it expiring your license would be good for the current season and the following.

Glad I have a lifetime sports license. Just go in an print another one and you're good to go.

leech, that is correct. They moved the dates around for everyone, so you dont have to go and buy a new one for 2008 till then

Dont get me wrong, I love the idea of a later experation date, but I think the DNR had it set up the old way was because it was at the same time that southern MN Perm. fishouses had to be off the lakes. It was simpler for them just to make it the same date. I like it this way much better though.

I called the DNR last Friday. The Ladie I talked to said that both the fishing and fish house license for 2007 are good thru 4/30/08 this year. You can buy your new 2008 now but do not need the 2008 until May 1, 2008 if you have a current 2007.

I bought a new one anyways. I bought a Combo Sportsmans and they didn't ask me my HIP questions. I'll have to remember to do that (it's free) before Waterfowl season rolls around in 7 months.

They need to correct their printout licenses. The '08 regs say that the license is good until 4/30/09, but the printed out license says Feb. 28.

Oh well, I wish I got as much enjoyment out of every $40 dollars I spent as much as the enjoyment I get from my hunting and fishing privileges purchased each year.

MnIceman is correct on the shelter licenses extended as well.

You also do not even need one if in the southern area where they must be off the lake @ midnight. Those in areas where you are still allowed to have it out over night need it tagged.

I was at the man store yesterday and decided I'd get my new license while I was there. The new license still says it expires on February 28, 2009, but then in smaller print below it says Angling season expires April 30, 2009.

My mistake I bought the combination sportsman license. Small game still expires on February 28, 2009.
