reelemin
White Water state park - SE MN, just north of Rochester. Awesome park. Trout streams, great hiking, beautiful bluff scenery and NO mosquitoes!!!!!!!!!!

Guppy
There was a short note in the Rochester paper tonight that Whitewater will open for camping on April 11. Also, the park is east of Rochester, not north.

blackdog1101
Forestville St Pk is fantastic. Excellent trout fishing, and other interesting activities for the non-anglers. The old town of Forestville is within the park, and during the summers they have historical actors playing the part of townspeople. You get a tour of the town by one of the "citizens" of the town. There is also Mystery Cave, from which the South Branch of the Root River flows. The river literally flows out of a cave. Very cool. The fishing is all brown trout, as I recall there are about 3 miles of stream within the park. We've camped there as a family several times, and I go there to fish usually a few times during the trout season. Highly recommended.

tisosy11
Where is a good place to camp...for regular fishing? With and Without a boat???
Quetico
McCarthy Beach State Park is always nice. Yet it fills up fast during the summer. The chain of lakes there has always produced decent crappies up to 13" regularly, eatable sunnies and good pike. I am told there are some good walleye in a few of the lakes but never caught any. Cicada
If you care to venture a little bit farther, Maplewood State Park is awesome. Rustic as well as sites with facilities. Rainbow trout in a carry down access lake which you can also rent a park boat. Trophy muskie; (Beers Lake), trophy bass; Beers, South Lida, Twenty-one, and Fladmark Lakes), great walleye; (South Lida, Lida),big numbers of panfish; (Lida, South Lida, Twentyone, Fladmark, Beers, Grass Lakes) All these lakes are within or border the park. Great group of people run this park.

HossFisher
I would highly recommend Minneopa State park. You have lots of privacy and it rarely fills up with people. I have always had really good luck fishing the river around the park too.
