Ugliest Eye Ever??

Obviously not a recent catch (07 summer), but I was looking through some pics and could this possibly be the ugliest 29" walleye ever caught? It has actually been mistaken for a pike at fist glance by more than one of my friends.

Oh and the fish had some mental problems also... It was caught mid-day on a 100 degree July day while trolling spoons for pike in 6 ft of water.

The front looks like the real thing, and the back does too..... what is that goofy part in the middle?

Nothing mental about that. That's deep water in the summer.

hmm....definetly nothing mental about 6 foot of water in 100 degrees of july heat. I do it alot or shallower myself. but its soo incredibly skinny...Any ideas on the status of that fishery??? the fish looks juts like it is starving! are the other fish like that??

biggest walleye of my life came out of a lake that no one ever fishes for walleye. At my buddies cabin. were were taking a night cruise in the pontoon. First time we ever fished the lake at night. caught a 24in and a monster 30in. both released

That looks just like a 28.5" eye I caught of the dock at Father Hennepin State Park on Isle Bay about 8 or 10 years ago. It was mid summer shallow water with weeds. It weighted out at only 6.5 pounds because it was so long and thin.

I have caught some skinny walleyes, but that is the super model of walleyes. That is not due to post spawn, especially if it was 100 degrees. That fish is just starving. Are all the Pike hammer handles in that lake too? My guess is that they are in desperate need of some bait fish. Juvenile walleyes, may be the bottom of the food chain if adults are that scarce.

Maybe a big gator got after an innocent female walleye and this is the result. Or could it be some sort of Saugeye that had a pituitary problem? Anyway? That one sure tops anything I ever caught! What lake did you catch ii in? Remind me to avoid the place if critters like that are the result! I don't want to eat anything from there? No point in taking a chance on having 3 eyed kids, you know?

It is likely the fish was starving. The water temperature in 6' of water on a 100 degree day would make bath water seem cold.

At these temps. a fish must feed constantly to make up for the energy it expends. I t is not uncommon to see this in a shallow water fish. Did you check the stomach contents?

That shallow it was probably feeding on sunfish. Not very good nourishment for a walleye.

    • got this tackled today took about 3 hours to get both sides done. Didnt even get to use a torch....   Thought I was golden with just jacking it up and I could get to everything but no luck. Had to remove the entire axle hub and brake assembly to get to what I needed. Was a pain but still better then taking off the entire pivot arm.    Axle bearings were already greased and in great shape thankfully. Got both leaf springs installed and its ready for the road again.   Probably going to have my electric brakes checked, I am not touching anything with the brake drums. Based on what I saw it doesn't look like my electric brakes have been working anyway. Brakes are nice to have if its slippery out
    • By The way that didn't work either!! Screw it I'll just use the cellular.
    • It’s done automatically.  You might need an actual person to clear that log in stuff up.   Trash your laptop history if you haven’t tried that already.
    • 😂 yea pretty amazing how b o o b i e s gets flagged, but they can't respond or tell me why I  can't get logged in here on my laptop but I can on my cellular  😪
    • I grilled some brats yesterday, maybe next weekend will the next round...
    • You got word censored cuz you said        B o o b ies….. haha.   Yeah, no… grilling is on hiatus for a bit.
    • Chicken mine,  melded in Mccormick poultry seasoning for 24 hours.  Grill will get a break till the frigid temps go away!
    • we had some nice weather yesterday and this conundrum was driving me crazy  so I drove up to the house to take another look. I got a bunch of goodies via ups yesterday (cables,  winch ratchet parts, handles, leaf springs etc).   I wanted to make sure the new leaf springs I got fit. I got everything laid out and ready to go. Will be busy this weekend with kids stuff and too cold to fish anyway, but I will try to get back up there again next weekend and get it done. I don't think it will be bad once I get it lifted up.    For anyone in the google verse, the leaf springs are 4 leafs and measure 25 1/4" eye  to eye per Yetti. I didnt want to pay their markup so just got something else comparable rated for the same weight.   I am a first time wheel house owner, this is all new to me. My house didn't come with any handles for the rear cables? I was told this week by someone in the industry that cordless drills do not have enough brake to lower it slow enough and it can damage the cables and the ratchets in the winches.  I put on a handle last night and it is 100% better than using a drill, unfortatenly I found out the hard way lol and will only use the ICNutz to raise the house now.
