I went from a lightweight strikemaster which is still a good auger to Nils. Mainly because of what the boys from Central NY were telling me. They were right.

I'm glad I have my Nils. I do punch a ton of holes and I need easy and to save my back.

Ok, Ive read evry post on this and am convinced that my bad shoulders an aching back really dosent want to start hauling my 3hrs jiffy up out of the ice an then another two feet up through the floor of my camper house, by the end of the season on LOW thats five or more feet to pull that beast up an it down right stinks, so I just might have to look in to this but the money is just so...... you know, MUCH! Don't worry about how tall it is because once you start drilling it will pretty much cut the hole by itself and all you do is hang on. There is very little effort needed to drill a hole and the only thing you have to do is apply a little upward pressure while drilling.

yeah i hear ya..i'm sayin taller is better for people cause the auger won't be so low to the ice where u have to bend way down and pull it all the way back up when its all heavy.

with the taller auger u can just hit the gas and it will go through the ice with more auger being above the ice so u won't have to bend nearly as far...especially if the ice isn't that thick.

I found out just running it was not enough at first. I called the Nils Rep, and because o the tight industrial tolerances on ther Tanaka engine he said to rev it real high without the bit attached and while revving it, to toggle the choke back and forth until it almost dies, then back off on it. Apparently the diaphrams will sometimes dry out while in the warehouse and this took care of the problem of not cutting through the entire hole. Interestingly, the Rep. said no need to run several tanks, just do the choke toggle procedure right out of the box.

so is this the story then? probably gonna break mine in tomorrow...any preferences on what oil is better for the nils?

well this sucks...after taking my new auger out of the box and starring at it confused for 10 minutes trying to figure out how in the heck the auger shaft connects to the powerhead its obvious i'm missing a piece.

looks like i don't have an adaptor or something...don't tell me it comes in the auger shaft box that has a hole in the side.

The adapter comes in the auger shaft box with a special tool to put it together in a plastic bag. Definitely let the shipper know about the damaged box and get them to take some action. Also e-mail OutdoorProStore.com after you have made a claim with the shipper so they can get you the piece you need right away.

Ice is here.

I ordered one a week ago today and it hasn't arrived yet, just wondering what other people had for shipping times on their augers. I know a week isn't real long and it is definitely the busy time of year to buy an auger, just seeing what others experiences were.

Thanks

I think that it took forever but that was due to my own excitement but I think it was like 8 or 9 days so be patient and get the gas mixed up so the minute it shows up you can fire it up and break it in. The day I received mine I think that by 9:00 PM I went thru 3 tanks of gas and it has always ran GREAT.

I know the Nils has made my job alot easier with the ease of starting/drilling/reopening holes. I have to drill alot of holes some days and it has performed flawlessly everyday! Some of my customers have been amazed when I start it up and lay it on the ice to warm up(yes it stays running) while I get other things ready. They stare at it like, ok, is it going to stop running now and it doesn't. A few guys have wanted to drill their own holes so they take it and go scout around and they all say about the same thing which in short-- they like it ALOT!. It is simply the best auger I have ever used. Now with all that being said--I still have my old reliable Jiffy too which I have used for years and it's been a GREAT auger! I will never part with the Jiffy because I like the 10" hole for Pike but other than that, the Jiffy stays in the garage.

As far as how long it took to receive my Nils--I believe it was just over a week. It was a looong week waiting for it tho!

Nils has improved their motor from the Tanaka 262 to the Tanaka 270. Hope to get more details here soon.

When you order from this point forward you will get the NEW 270 Tanaka motor - at Nils Master @ OutdoorProStore.com

New this year the Nils will have a tad more powerfull motor and a locking gear case. There are some other cosmetic chnages but nothing that will change functionality. Over all its the same weight and height just a tad wider and taller handle base. Still the fastest and lightest 2 stroke auger out there.

    • By The way that didn't work either!! Screw it I'll just use the cellular.
    • It’s done automatically.  You might need an actual person to clear that log in stuff up.   Trash your laptop history if you haven’t tried that already.
    • 😂 yea pretty amazing how b o o b i e s gets flagged, but they can't respond or tell me why I  can't get logged in here on my laptop but I can on my cellular  😪
    • I grilled some brats yesterday, maybe next weekend will the next round...
    • You got word censored cuz you said        B o o b ies….. haha.   Yeah, no… grilling is on hiatus for a bit.
    • Chicken mine,  melded in Mccormick poultry seasoning for 24 hours.  Grill will get a break till the frigid temps go away!
    • we had some nice weather yesterday and this conundrum was driving me crazy  so I drove up to the house to take another look. I got a bunch of goodies via ups yesterday (cables,  winch ratchet parts, handles, leaf springs etc).   I wanted to make sure the new leaf springs I got fit. I got everything laid out and ready to go. Will be busy this weekend with kids stuff and too cold to fish anyway, but I will try to get back up there again next weekend and get it done. I don't think it will be bad once I get it lifted up.    For anyone in the google verse, the leaf springs are 4 leafs and measure 25 1/4" eye  to eye per Yetti. I didnt want to pay their markup so just got something else comparable rated for the same weight.   I am a first time wheel house owner, this is all new to me. My house didn't come with any handles for the rear cables? I was told this week by someone in the industry that cordless drills do not have enough brake to lower it slow enough and it can damage the cables and the ratchets in the winches.  I put on a handle last night and it is 100% better than using a drill, unfortatenly I found out the hard way lol and will only use the ICNutz to raise the house now.
    • I haven’t done any leaf springs for a long time and I can’t completely see the connections in your pics BUT I I’d be rounding up: PB Blaster, torch, 3 lb hammer, chisel, cut off tool, breaker bar, Jack stands or blocks.   This kind of stuff usually isn’t the easiest.   I would think you would be able to get at what you need by keeping the house up with Jack stands and getting the pressure off that suspension, then attack the hardware.  But again, I don’t feel like I can see everything going on there.
    • reviving an old thread due to running into the same issue with the same year of house. not expecting anything from yetti and I already have replacement parts ordered and on the way.   I am looking for some input or feedback on how to replace the leaf springs themselves.    If I jack the house up and remove the tire, is it possible to pivot the axel assembly low enough to get to the other end of the leaf spring and remove that one bolt?   Or do I have to remove the entire pivot arm to get to it? Then I also have to factor in brake wire as well then. What a mess   My house is currently an hour away from my home at a relatives, going to go back up and look it over again and try to figure out a game plan.           Above pic is with house lowered on ice, the other end of that leaf is what I need to get to.   above pic is side that middle bolt broke and bottom 2 leafs fell out here is other side that didnt break but you can see bottom half of leaf already did but atleast bolt is still in there here is hub assembly in my garage with house lowered and tires off when I put new tires on it a couple months ago. hopefully I can raise house high enough that it can drop down far enough and not snap brake cable there so I can get to that other end of the leaf spring.
