anyone do this? i have heard it is a good cheap way to hold your rods and keep them unsnappable! I would like some recomendations on which one to get? i would like to hold 4 combos ranging from 24-28" in length... I suppose it should be waterproof and relatively inexpensive or else i would just get a box made for ice rods...

Thanks for the help!

Dick's sporting goods, plano arrow case, about 9 bucks 2 years ago...It will hold 4 rods (takes a little to learn which one goes where, might have to modify the foam holders) my small tackle box, a small grub box and some other things. Great thing to use if the $ is low and slow coming in.....That big spoting good store in Owatonna was selling the exact same case 2 years ago for 30 bucks, called it an ice fishing rod case....

If you are going to spend 30-35 bucks, I would go with the Marcum RodPac. Holds 4 rods in individual tubes, and storage for a tackle box. Ordered mine from the sporting goods store in Walker for 39.99 over the internet. I really do like mine, and it really does a good job of protecting my rods.

I have used a arrow ony case for 4 years it had worked great, but i went bigger last year with the double gun hunting case by plano for 9 bucks.. I love it it is bigger but it still fits in the clam trap..huge argument by my Dad and I the last time out, I would not allow a pail with because it takes up to much space, I knew we would be walking out.HUGE ARGUMENT!!! He now realizes why I would not allow the pail, but what a stubborn swede!!

Arrow Cases are just about the right size. Some of them are 36" in length so it's good for 32" rods back to back to fit four rods with handles broken down. Then again for that kind of price...get a foot locker. Contico or Plano and get twice the room. LOL's maybe that's too much room. I'm still working on a design plan to arrange rods in my footlocker. I hate the break'n reel handles down, but seems to take sooo much room. Because, I wish that there was a stand up case...less floor foot space.

I actually did this before i went to LOTW. I was a bit worried about my rods up there so I found my arrow case and squeezed four rods into it. It worked but wasn't ideal. I still need the case for my arrows but so id didnt do any modification. If properly thought out I think it may be an ideal low cost option.

I've used the arrow case for 3 seasons now...I fit 4 rods in there. I looked and researched rod lockers a long time, before seeing them advertised at Sportsman's. I was skeptical, but have been very happy with it...It is very light weight, and takes up minimal room. If your walking a distance for early and late ice action and want to be hands free, you could use the eye holes, (assuming it is for either for some type of lock or added fastening) you could use a couple hooks and fasten a strap to it. Additionally, just as someone mentioned above, you can usually fit a couple small tackle containers in there too...

I've been using a plastic gun case for about 5-6 years now. I checked out the bargain cave at Cabela's and found a shorter one. I picked it up for about $10. I can fit 6 combo's easy in mine. You do have to fold the reel handles, but I have never had a problem with anything breaking. The rod case fits right in the front edge of my quickflip 3. Throw it around, bang on it, beat on it and the rods come out fine....Trust me it has happened to my gear!!

I have one of those cheaper arrow cases, which I actually use for arrows, but is there enough room for the reel?

There are many good rod cases out there right now. have you looked at any of them? I personally use the Ready Rig rod cases. I can fit 3 of them in the hammock under the seat of my Fish Trap.

I have used a cheap arrow case for about 8 years. I have yet to open it up and have a broken tip surprise. I have however had a couple in my soft pack over the years break. The nice thing about them is that with the foam, your rods are seperated and not bouncing around. From bungeeing them to your wheeler rack, to having them sitting in the base of your sled. They protect the rods very well. The only draw back is that your reel handles need to be broken down. I haul 4 rods in in all the time. Ranging from 24-28 inchers. A very cheap way to protect against the elements.

    • By The way that didn't work either!! Screw it I'll just use the cellular.
    • It’s done automatically.  You might need an actual person to clear that log in stuff up.   Trash your laptop history if you haven’t tried that already.
    • 😂 yea pretty amazing how b o o b i e s gets flagged, but they can't respond or tell me why I  can't get logged in here on my laptop but I can on my cellular  😪
    • I grilled some brats yesterday, maybe next weekend will the next round...
    • You got word censored cuz you said        B o o b ies….. haha.   Yeah, no… grilling is on hiatus for a bit.
    • Chicken mine,  melded in Mccormick poultry seasoning for 24 hours.  Grill will get a break till the frigid temps go away!
    • we had some nice weather yesterday and this conundrum was driving me crazy  so I drove up to the house to take another look. I got a bunch of goodies via ups yesterday (cables,  winch ratchet parts, handles, leaf springs etc).   I wanted to make sure the new leaf springs I got fit. I got everything laid out and ready to go. Will be busy this weekend with kids stuff and too cold to fish anyway, but I will try to get back up there again next weekend and get it done. I don't think it will be bad once I get it lifted up.    For anyone in the google verse, the leaf springs are 4 leafs and measure 25 1/4" eye  to eye per Yetti. I didnt want to pay their markup so just got something else comparable rated for the same weight.   I am a first time wheel house owner, this is all new to me. My house didn't come with any handles for the rear cables? I was told this week by someone in the industry that cordless drills do not have enough brake to lower it slow enough and it can damage the cables and the ratchets in the winches.  I put on a handle last night and it is 100% better than using a drill, unfortatenly I found out the hard way lol and will only use the ICNutz to raise the house now.
    • I haven’t done any leaf springs for a long time and I can’t completely see the connections in your pics BUT I I’d be rounding up: PB Blaster, torch, 3 lb hammer, chisel, cut off tool, breaker bar, Jack stands or blocks.   This kind of stuff usually isn’t the easiest.   I would think you would be able to get at what you need by keeping the house up with Jack stands and getting the pressure off that suspension, then attack the hardware.  But again, I don’t feel like I can see everything going on there.
    • reviving an old thread due to running into the same issue with the same year of house. not expecting anything from yetti and I already have replacement parts ordered and on the way.   I am looking for some input or feedback on how to replace the leaf springs themselves.    If I jack the house up and remove the tire, is it possible to pivot the axel assembly low enough to get to the other end of the leaf spring and remove that one bolt?   Or do I have to remove the entire pivot arm to get to it? Then I also have to factor in brake wire as well then. What a mess   My house is currently an hour away from my home at a relatives, going to go back up and look it over again and try to figure out a game plan.           Above pic is with house lowered on ice, the other end of that leaf is what I need to get to.   above pic is side that middle bolt broke and bottom 2 leafs fell out here is other side that didnt break but you can see bottom half of leaf already did but atleast bolt is still in there here is hub assembly in my garage with house lowered and tires off when I put new tires on it a couple months ago. hopefully I can raise house high enough that it can drop down far enough and not snap brake cable there so I can get to that other end of the leaf spring.
