drop away rest

What do some of you think on whats the best drop away for hunting? I want some thing that soports the arrow for less misshaps in the stand. That new scisser rest looks good. I have a wisker bisket on it now I love it for hunting but the grouping past 30 yard isn't that great for me.

I have heard very good things about the Rip-Cord brand. I bought one but I haven't used it yet to say how well I like it.

I shoot an AP Safari Twister. I like it. I used to shoot a Trophy Taker (a couple of them) and liked them too, but I liked the "dummy proofing" of the Safari Twister- arrow can NOT come off the rest.

I have a rip-cord on my bow and I love it. It locks in the "up" position to hold your arrow in place so when you move around the arrow is ready to shoot and quiet. When you pull back and shoot, but rest drops away. It has the stability of a whisker biscut with the accuracy and speed of a drop away. I am a big fan! Very easy to adjust as well.

The QAD LD is another nice fall away rest. I have been shooting one on my Switchy for almost a year and have had no problems. Its very similar to the Rip Cord. Their (QAD) HSOforum has a nice demo video...its worth checking out.

I've been shooting a Trophy Taker for about 3 years now and it has been a very reliable rest.

Scoot-It is a bit early on a Monday, but how does that rest work? I'm having trouble visualizing this rest in action.

The rest is roughly in the shape of a triangle and you insert the arrow through the opening from the back. Then it fits into an arrow clip in front of the rest. When you draw the arrow, the rest lifts it off of the arrow clip. Can't go wrong.

I like to dabble with archery equipment, so I may try something different this year. Just for kicks...

I have been shooting a rip cord for 2 years and it hunts well. I shoot it out to 60 yards successfully and do not notice any drop off on groups at distance.

anyone know which one to use so the arrow doesnt come off the rest.. i just fired my first bow this weekend and sometimes as i pulled back my arrow would come out i was able to put it back while still drawn but can you imagine with a big boy in front of you....no no no

the ripcord and the QAD ultra rest both have bars that go across the top, and they lock up, so they will hold your arrow. I am just getting a new bow and i think i will go with the QAD, because it will stay up if you don't shoot. go to their HSOforum and look at their movie to see more about that.

Trophy taker also has a new containment drop away. I'm thinking about trying that one. My friend has the rip cord and likes it a lot. I've heard good and bad about the QAD. Not sure where I stand. I've handled it in the store and I'm not too sure about it.

I know three guys that have purchased the ripcord and love it. I just had one installed on my bow but havent used it yet.

Regarding drop-aways, the market looks to be flooded with them. I purchased the NAP product a few months ago because the tines the held the arrow already came padded/silenced vs. the trophy taker for the same price.

I think I'm going to invest in a drop away arrow rest holder. Sims makes one that looks to "cradle" the arrow; not sure if I want that one. NAP makes one that looks to hold the arrow more firmly. Both allow you to draw cleanly/silently, yet still hold the arrow in place.

I think I'm going to try these out. Both are under $10.

It is true that most of the dropaways don't have a way of silencing the prongs from the supplier, but a $4 pack of camo felt tape will pad 10 rests. I already have this for many reasons so thats not a problem.

I don't know if most drop aways need it, but the ones I'm familiar with would need to be covered with the camo felt tape. I've got two bows with drop away rests covered with the camo felt and it works slick. In fact, I have the entire shef covered with the felt also.
