Swindle DQ'd

OLY

The g-man had his day two catch disqualified for unsafe boating. Apparently a BASS photographer called in and said he was on plane too close to another competitors boat. Sounds kinda harsh to get your days catch in the classic DQ'd for something like that.

Whats the deal with some of the B.A.S.S. guys these days? If I remember right KVD, Ike, and now Swindle have all had rules run-ins the last few years. These are some awfully big name guys. Too bad they can't set a little better example during the Superbowl of bass fishing.

I think KVD's infraction paled in comparison to Ike and G-Man - if I remember all he did was allow the non-boater to run the boat up the bank to the next spot while he was still up front or something like that - he turned himself in as well I think.

Still broke the rules but not insanity like these other two knuckleheaded actions.

and they think Ike is nutz?

maybe steroids? Swindle is the Lyle Alzado of bassfishin? just what we need.

the film was clear, he was a little oughta control, staightened it out and said my-mom-sees-this to the other fisherman.

ugly

what if he'd brought it down off plane and idled thru doin some live talk with howell and the others? that woulda been class.

steroids I think

Ya, KVD turned himself in. G man, and IKE, where way off the hook. IKE is crazy, and i sometime wonder why they deal with a person like that. Ya, hes good, but alot of trouble. G man knows better, and im pretty sure he knows that, after reading the artical from his wife, but you have to learn from your mistakes, and move on, there isnt anythign you can do now.

after watching the classic, i have TONS of respect for the G Man. He took it like a man, and took his DQ like a pro. Yes he did do something that was wrong, but to be able to take it like a man, and be a pro, i respect it 100%.

I was just going to say the exact same thing.

I haven't watched any of the tournament coverage at all (Watching regular fishing shows is bad enough. Watching a tournament on TV is like watching paint dry...) But I did see the video of Swindle's drive-by. Wow. How anyone can question his DQ is beyond me. Unbelievably irresponsible on his part. He better take it like a man, because he's in no position to argue...

Yep, here he is...."taking it like a man" grin.gif

How about saying, "I'm sorry. I put that camera boat in danger and I should have never traveled that close at that speed"

I couldn't agree more. Swindle's boating incident was way worse than Ike's meltdown in my mind. Ike breaks a stern light and the entire bass world wants him banned. Swindle runs on plane 3 feet from a camera boat and almost as close to a spectator boat risking lives and damage to somebody elses $50,000 boat. Gives the anti tourney crowd a good argument to get rid of us all. If this incident happened on a lake like Minnetonka the sheriff's would be giving out citations if not more!

Are you kidding me. IKE was a ABSOLUTE JOKE. G Man had his boat under control, just do close to other boats. IKE was a meltdown that could have been controled alot more. That was a joke. Im sorry, but i cant agree with you.

Well .my .02 is that Ike was a baby about his DQ when G-man was a man. For him to go on stage and say he was sorry to everyone was what he need to do. He knew he made a dumb decision. G-man has my respect and will always after that!!!! If you ask me the spectator boats need to learn to give the pro some room and not be right on there a@$!!!

i think the big thing about ikes outburst was the obsenity-laced tirade more than the light breaking. i find it hard to believe that you guys are so sympathetic for swindel. i've fished with a few guys out of a boat, and the one thing they all have in common is that when they get buzzed by somebody, they all have a few choice words for that guy. and for a seasoned pro to do something that bushleague is just wrong. so he said i'm sorry, what else is he gonna say? if you are fishing a tourney and somebody does this to you, do you have respect for the guy when he apolgizes at the dock, or do you curse him out for his unsafe practices?

Try this. An unnamed angler breaks a light and starts cussing on camera. Another unnamed angler runs his boat on plane through a crowd passing less than 3 feet from another boat. Which action should get the most severe punishment. Judge the actions not the name behind those actions. Like him or not, Swindle endangered the safety of others. He could have slapped hands with the cameraman as he passed at 40 mph. Ike said some naughty words. Not even comparable. Actions like Swindle's are why the anti tourney folks hate us! If we don't police ourselves they will do it for us.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but he still hasn't apologized.

This is from a Birmingham paper:

Swindle broke down in tears before a BJCC Arena weigh-in crowd of 10,000 after he tried to explain his disqualification.

"BASS thought it was a bad call," Swindle said as he began to stammer, "I didn't."

At that point, Swindle broke down and couldn't continue. He left the stage and retreated to a BJCC hallway where he continued to cry.

Swindle estimated his speed at 60 mph but estimated the difference between his boat and the closest boat to him was 25 yards. smirk.gif

LMAO at 25 yards.. i watched the tv version and it almost looked to me like G-man and his boater were almost daring anyone to say anything about it with the glare they gave the other boat!! Ike melted down yes.. BUT I think a light is alot cheaper to replace than someones life should it have been so tragic.. just MY .02 cents worth!!

Bassnspear..

Swindle's was waaaay worse than Ikes in my mind as well, breaking a stern light put no one's life in danger, running a boat that close to somebody else is is just pure idiotic, I don't care how under control he was. I would like to see how you would react if someone did that to you on the water. I know if they did it to me it wouldn't be pretty at the landing. Just pure selfishness and stupidity in my opinion. And no apoligy either yet? Obviously he is a jerk as well.

You cant even compare the two. Ike had an emotional breakdown after discovering two livewells full of dead fish. Yeah he coulda handled it better but, what swindle did was just pure stupidity.
