Lake Cenaiko Thread

Cenaiko is the highest I have ever seen it, last time I was down there(Wed), you could not see any space between the dock and water. The beach area was totally covered, both north and south, its gonna be fun come opener!

Opening Day Gang, anybody have any luck, was down there this morning, and did not see anybody having any great success, course it was about 40 degrees!!! I got two for the pan!!!

I was outhere yesterday for opener. total floop for me. didnt see much caught out there either. One guy next to me caught 2 fish one rainbow and a nice size brown trout. I caught 1 LM bass not much size and farmed somthing.DNR guys were there checking licenses and said they planted last week. I say Bull. when they plant people catch fish. and that wasnt happening with anyone yesterday.

can you wade in cenaiko if you are fly fishing or any kind of fishing for that matter? just wondering, or is it just shore fishing? it does say no swimming but figured i would make sure, thanks for any info. i was thinking about emailing the dnr but figured i would ask here first.

Tough year at Cenaiko this year...hope ice fishing season is better.

How big were the trout this year?

I fished near Sawyer a lot this year. The Rainbows there were tiny. I do not think i caught one over a quarter pound and one of the bigger fish i got was a golden shiner.

Just got into city fishing. And just found this lake while planning for the winter and next year.

Does anyone know if trout ice opener is still January 15th this year? Also, any idea on how much ice is on Cenaiko right now?

Haha, very true... I guess it wouldnt be a metro trout opener without the line of trucks ideling waiting for the park gates to open! Count me in!

How does cenaiko look during the week right after opener? Are there still alot of people on the first monday or wednesday?

Yup, people usually are there until, she is more or less fished out. Only the smart fish, get off the hook!!! I know quite a few who take time off, just for this time of year.

I just found out I have the 15th off work, now I just need to decide if I want to hit Grindstone for lakers or one of the metro lakes for streamers...

what are the normal sizes of these trout? Been 8 yrs since I fished it last. Caught 3 trout in 2hrs, 2 weeks after opener.

Anybody know what time you can start fishing on Cenaiko on opener?

I think in the past they have opened it as early as 5 on the trout opener. The HSOforum says they don't open until 9 but I wouldn't be surprised if they open early on Friday.

Thanks waterbound, but I was wondering what time you can start fishing, not what time they open the gates at the dam. Is it an hour before sunrise?
