fishingking-

Those perch are huge man!! Looks like you've had an awesome winter.

I have 2 fish that really made my winter for me. There are a few others but these 2 I remember like they happened this morning.

Lake Sturgeon

This one was 42" I think. Caught strictly by accident while fishing walleyes on Lake of the Woods, MN.

And this 20" Smallmouth Bass from Chequamegon Bay, Lake Superior.

Awesome fish both of you.

The amazing things is that some people never catch a fish like those and you caught bunches all this year (not to mention other years I imagine).

How long you been fishing? Do you use an aquaview? I'm very impressed with your perch and the nice laker.

Good job.

carlcmc- I have been freshwater fishing for about 10 years now . I started getting serious about open water fishing right after I graduated high school (Summer 99)and mainly bass fished that summer. (Caught and mounted a 5.7lb Largemouth bass that summer)

I began Icefishing around 1997 with tipups with very little sucess (fishing only a few times a season). I become a full blown/hardcore icefisherman starting in December of 2002 (2002/2003 season).

I just ended my 3rd season of being a serious Icefisherman. I am 24 yrs old and still have alot of learning ahead of me.

I feel that hardwork, determination ans skill will put fish on the ice. You also have to be confident in knowing that what you are doing will work. I have found it quite easy to put big fish on the ice as well, just need to know where to go and find them.

I caught three 14 1/4" perch this year all 3 came from 3 different body's of water.

The 10 3/4" and 10 3/8" gill came from one body of water. ALl released.

The 6 10" gills I caught came out of one body of water.

The 8 Crappies that were 13 1/4" came out of 3 different bodies of water. All released.

Long as your determined to catch a certain sized fish that you know swims in that particular body of water you can catch it. smile.gif

Heres a couple from Minnesota & South Dakota when I was working out there for 5 1/2 months. Summer/Fall 2004.

16 1/2" crappie CPR. Caught in Minnesota.

25 or 26" Walleye Didnt measure it CPR. Caught in South Dakota.

Long skinny Pike Caught in South Dakota. Length Mid/High 30's?? CPR.

And a big bass from Minnesota

Yeah we usually do great out there in the spring. I out of town on buisness right now but I get back Friday and I will bet my life I will be on the ice at Sun up and will not leave until sundown all weekend. Unless it gets really warm and then I guess I would have to hit Lake Superior and run boards for some Browns, Coho's & Steelheads. Here is a link to a fishig tournament we had this past weekend. I didn't place but I still caught 5 fish over 1 lb 10oz's. This first pics is my buddy Brandon and yes I was there when he pulled that HOG through the hole on the 30th. Check out the link below.

    • got this tackled today took about 3 hours to get both sides done. Didnt even get to use a torch....   Thought I was golden with just jacking it up and I could get to everything but no luck. Had to remove the entire axle hub and brake assembly to get to what I needed. Was a pain but still better then taking off the entire pivot arm.    Axle bearings were already greased and in great shape thankfully. Got both leaf springs installed and its ready for the road again.   Probably going to have my electric brakes checked, I am not touching anything with the brake drums. Based on what I saw it doesn't look like my electric brakes have been working anyway. Brakes are nice to have if its slippery out
    • By The way that didn't work either!! Screw it I'll just use the cellular.
    • It’s done automatically.  You might need an actual person to clear that log in stuff up.   Trash your laptop history if you haven’t tried that already.
    • 😂 yea pretty amazing how b o o b i e s gets flagged, but they can't respond or tell me why I  can't get logged in here on my laptop but I can on my cellular  😪
    • I grilled some brats yesterday, maybe next weekend will the next round...
    • You got word censored cuz you said        B o o b ies….. haha.   Yeah, no… grilling is on hiatus for a bit.
    • Chicken mine,  melded in Mccormick poultry seasoning for 24 hours.  Grill will get a break till the frigid temps go away!
    • we had some nice weather yesterday and this conundrum was driving me crazy  so I drove up to the house to take another look. I got a bunch of goodies via ups yesterday (cables,  winch ratchet parts, handles, leaf springs etc).   I wanted to make sure the new leaf springs I got fit. I got everything laid out and ready to go. Will be busy this weekend with kids stuff and too cold to fish anyway, but I will try to get back up there again next weekend and get it done. I don't think it will be bad once I get it lifted up.    For anyone in the google verse, the leaf springs are 4 leafs and measure 25 1/4" eye  to eye per Yetti. I didnt want to pay their markup so just got something else comparable rated for the same weight.   I am a first time wheel house owner, this is all new to me. My house didn't come with any handles for the rear cables? I was told this week by someone in the industry that cordless drills do not have enough brake to lower it slow enough and it can damage the cables and the ratchets in the winches.  I put on a handle last night and it is 100% better than using a drill, unfortatenly I found out the hard way lol and will only use the ICNutz to raise the house now.
