this isnt a fish, and doesnt have to deal with ice fishing at all, but I have caught them fishing:

snapping turtles, I have only caught a couple, all by accident.

always a good fight, but once you get a look at it, just to see how big it actually is, he always gets to keep my lure, and I just cut my line.

Did I mention how ugly they are.

I'm with hanson. Even if a fish isn't colorful or have pretty markings, there all kind of cool. The stergeon is a perfect example. It looks like something that would have been swimming with dinosaurs and probably were. But they have a face only a mother could love, (or a goofy fisherman.) tongue.gif

Yeah, the dogfish is one I left out of the top five in this week's article, I guess they should get an honorable mention. Heh, I remember in college I used to go to the school's recreation lake and catch them. Mean mothers. I saw a kid land a 30" bowfin two years ago in Detroit Lakes. That was a mean looking animal.

I'm not saying these fish aren't "cool" I'm just saying that they're ugly. smile.gif

Mudpups

dogfish

catfish

Drum/sheepheads

carps

These are my five ugliest fish. The first one isn't really a fish, more like lizard fish but they live in the water and bites my bait so I consider it a fish and they are really ugly. grin.gif
