Lighting for portable

Well the good news is that he refunded my money (used Paypal to purchase) and I'm sending them back. The bad news is I still don't have any lights! At least the seller was credible and was easy to work with about this mess.

He was going to sell me some additional sets on the side, so I e-mailed him to see what make the other lights were, and as it turns out they are not Maxxima. He seems to be easy to work with. I had not sent him money for the additional sets, so that is good. I also wanted him to check on the other set that I originally purchased to see if they were truely Maxxima or not. He was going to check and already offered to refund my money if they were not. I guess its like they say, if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is. Guess I am off to Peterbilt if the original pair is not Maxxima.

I was hoping to get mine rigged up this weekend also. I am disappointed that he did not let us know this, I would have cancelled my order right away.

Maybe he should just give us these lights and send us the ones we ordered when we get them since he was being dishonest with us. That is how I feel, he knew that he did not have them and he advertized and sold something he did not have anyway.

Id better stop now before I say something that I shouldn't.

Same deal here fella's. I got 12 of em sitting here. He did respond right away this morning, and offered waiting for 2 ta 3 weeks or refund. I quess I would really be ticked if I hadn't already found 4 at the local truck stops here. I was just gonna help some guys out that wanted some. Think I will just get a refund. Don't need the hassle. I would assume that he has to refund our shipping back to him, doesn't he? Will there be paypal fee's for refunds applied to his account or our accounts?

The extra pole I used was one that got bent. We ordered a replacement pole from clam and chopped the bent one up for the project. I bought the extra c-clips from Thorne Brothers. Clam also has them for ordering.

minnowhead- Email me. gustafson_tim and it's a hotmail email address.

I still think these are the best option, nothing to do but place them where you want them, drill 2 holes and plug them in, DONE.

With the built in hinge, I just pre-drilled 2 small holes and screwed them to the pole, ran the wire and presto... let there be light.

Well I finally finished.

2 - 1157 sockets $2.79 a piece

2 - 24 bulb 1157 LEDs $17.00 on hsolist

misc supplies $5.00

I used a shallow outlet box for the two switches. Later I'll mount the box but for now it just sits in the tub. Alligator clips for a battery. The pictures do not do it justice. Very satisfied with the light output - plus, no more having a lantern taking up floor space!

Here's the switches. One for "power" and one for "high/low" setting.

Can't wait to try it out tomorrow morning!

The cost is only $18.00 each, and I picked them up at a truck stop in Sauk Centre. I was trying to help a few people get them threw the mail, but I think my e-mail address was removed, so you'll probably have to do a search in the yellow pages for a phone number or drive there yourself, sorry.

this may be a dumb question, but with led's are there different ones for 12v vs. 110? i found some trouble lights with 30 led's in them for $20, but they have a regular cord on them. can i just cut it off and put clips on, or are those led's only for 110 like a regular light bulb compared to a 12v light bulb.

I bought a 13 led oval light and a 12v 7 amp battery on hsolist. It is plenty bright to light up my 8x8. I built a box to put it all in and wired a high-off-low switch in and now have a portable lantern that I can hang from the middle crossbar in my house. Cost me about 30 bucks total after paying shipping costs. I did a test run on it and it stayed bright for 74 hours and then I had to stop and charge it because it was time to go fishing. I don't know how long it would have ran. Sure beats the propane smile.gif

bobO, was out last night for 4 hours with my 2 LB1 from superbrightled and had it running off the same battery as my Vex. Got home and the battery gauge told me that it had drained 10% of the battery. I am pretty sure that you could fish all wknd without having to recharge. Or another option is you could run it one day on your battery and the next day off your fishing partners battery. I am very pleased with the LB1 set up, lights my trap voyager bright enough that I can read the fine print on my favorite adult beverage can with no problem. Headlight not necessary except for packing up

    • It’s done automatically.  You might need an actual person to clear that log in stuff up.   Trash your laptop history if you haven’t tried that already.
    • 😂 yea pretty amazing how b o o b i e s gets flagged, but they can't respond or tell me why I  can't get logged in here on my laptop but I can on my cellular  😪
    • I grilled some brats yesterday, maybe next weekend will the next round...
    • You got word censored cuz you said        B o o b ies….. haha.   Yeah, no… grilling is on hiatus for a bit.
    • Chicken mine,  melded in Mccormick poultry seasoning for 24 hours.  Grill will get a break till the frigid temps go away!
    • we had some nice weather yesterday and this conundrum was driving me crazy  so I drove up to the house to take another look. I got a bunch of goodies via ups yesterday (cables,  winch ratchet parts, handles, leaf springs etc).   I wanted to make sure the new leaf springs I got fit. I got everything laid out and ready to go. Will be busy this weekend with kids stuff and too cold to fish anyway, but I will try to get back up there again next weekend and get it done. I don't think it will be bad once I get it lifted up.    For anyone in the google verse, the leaf springs are 4 leafs and measure 25 1/4" eye  to eye per Yetti. I didnt want to pay their markup so just got something else comparable rated for the same weight.   I am a first time wheel house owner, this is all new to me. My house didn't come with any handles for the rear cables? I was told this week by someone in the industry that cordless drills do not have enough brake to lower it slow enough and it can damage the cables and the ratchets in the winches.  I put on a handle last night and it is 100% better than using a drill, unfortatenly I found out the hard way lol and will only use the ICNutz to raise the house now.
    • I haven’t done any leaf springs for a long time and I can’t completely see the connections in your pics BUT I I’d be rounding up: PB Blaster, torch, 3 lb hammer, chisel, cut off tool, breaker bar, Jack stands or blocks.   This kind of stuff usually isn’t the easiest.   I would think you would be able to get at what you need by keeping the house up with Jack stands and getting the pressure off that suspension, then attack the hardware.  But again, I don’t feel like I can see everything going on there.
    • reviving an old thread due to running into the same issue with the same year of house. not expecting anything from yetti and I already have replacement parts ordered and on the way.   I am looking for some input or feedback on how to replace the leaf springs themselves.    If I jack the house up and remove the tire, is it possible to pivot the axel assembly low enough to get to the other end of the leaf spring and remove that one bolt?   Or do I have to remove the entire pivot arm to get to it? Then I also have to factor in brake wire as well then. What a mess   My house is currently an hour away from my home at a relatives, going to go back up and look it over again and try to figure out a game plan.           Above pic is with house lowered on ice, the other end of that leaf is what I need to get to.   above pic is side that middle bolt broke and bottom 2 leafs fell out here is other side that didnt break but you can see bottom half of leaf already did but atleast bolt is still in there here is hub assembly in my garage with house lowered and tires off when I put new tires on it a couple months ago. hopefully I can raise house high enough that it can drop down far enough and not snap brake cable there so I can get to that other end of the leaf spring.
