Culpepper done...

Damage to his ACL, MCL and PCL ligaments. THAT'S BAD!!!

I've torn my ACL...twice. It sucks. 6 months of rehab. You can come back from an ACL tear, but all 3 ligaments???

They haven't been able to examine the extent of the damage yet as there is too much swelling in the knee, but if all three ligaments are torn....has anyone ever come back from that???

Could be career ending for DC. We'll have to wait and find out I guess.

Ive had this argument a hundred times. Anybody who thinks that the Vikes problems, has anything to do with Daunte Culpepper is crazy. I think we all need to look at our offensive line or lack thereof and start pointing fingers. Were giving up more sacks then any team in the league, we cant run the ball and we have no time to throw the ball. Ball games are won or lost in the trenches. Fix the O line!!

Amen Grip-Em

Although he played bad this year you cannot blame Culpepper for the teams failure. The o-line is horrible and how can you blame Culpepper for the defense. No QB in the history of the NFL could succeed in this situation.

So far the Defense has give up more points then lasts years team did. Now its just a matter of time until Johnson starts taking brutal hits, hopefully he can stay on the field. this O line is going to get someone killed.

And I believe that Willis McGahee from the Bills had the same injury during the Championship game against Ohio State when he was at Miami. He seems to have come back just fine.

As long as Im venting and throwing blame around, lets not forget about our incredible coaching staff. Time is long over due for Tice to pack his bags, and bring the rest of the bunch with him. Ive always been a Vikes fan and always will be, but it gets tougher all the time.

When culpepper has time, he can do a bunch....

What some of you may not know is that we have no offensive line coach...on the idea that the offensive coordinator could do that along with play calling. Another one of those great ideas that Red thought they could do.

Tice is not the best coach...hired for peanuts as well as the rest of his staff (again due to Red)

Everything is out of control....losing culpepper just adds to the mess. He may very well be done playing football. If the posterior ligament broke clean, he's done....end of story.

All you thinking first draft pick...this makes a big difference. I think Brad J has some years left in him and there is no doubt he is good too...give him time and he can work some things as well. Get a 4th or 5th round QB and work him into the system...

But first, Get a new coaching staff that has some better experience. Then, get rid of some of those guys who seem to think they can do what they want in public and consider it perfectly fine. This team needs to get turned upside-down and inside-out...get their butts whipped into doing the right things and then we will see improvement. Hopefully Ziggy is putting some serious time into this...

It hurts to be a vikings fan right now... How bout them Colts though... Talk about a model team...and a model coach!!

I really did not think it was that bad of a hit. But when you are a big guy your own size helps to defeat you. Right now it sounds like a very serious injury to once was a mobile QB if he can't come back at full speed I think his days as a QB may be numbered as he is not a pure drop back QB.. Who was it that was talking about making him a TE ?

For those of you that are glad Culpepper is out. I bet you were glad he was our quarterback last year when he had 39 TD's and only 11 interceptions. I can't believe how ignorant some football fans are. I like Brad Johnson, he is a good backup, period. As someone posted earlier, we will see Hill this year, because Johnson will be crushed. Then you Culpepper haters can remember how nice it is to have a mobile quarterback. One more thing, that was a heck of a run Culpepper made when he got hurt.

What bothers me about those kinds of hits, though, is the lack of fundamentals. We see a bunch of players hurt because there is no such thing as "form tackling" going on for open field defenders, and what ever happened to wrapping up a player in the low mid-section and holding on and literally "tackling" them? I hate seeing the human spears who want to make the big hit. Half the time they miss...and really shows they DON'T know how to tackle someone.

I'm going to go out on a limb here and say I would like to see chop or spear-style tackles made as a 5 yard penalty from the spot of the foul. Too many times there is a missed tackle. You watch how many players stay down over the course of a season after a human spear hit...especially the ones who don't see it coming. Not a helmet spear hit, but a body spear hit...

Spearing is actually an illeagel hit but what these guys do isn't spearing they just throw there shoulders into guys trying to knock them over. Spearing in an illeagal way is what Goldberg use to do to people in the WCW wrestling.

What happened to Culpepper wasn't a spear or anything really dirty. Small Defensive Backs are taught to go low on a large offensive player. A guy that weights 200 lbs doesn't have much chance to bring down a guy that pushes 275 if he tries to go high on the guy. He did what he had to do to take Culpepper down. Not dirty but still I would like to see less hits on peoples knees no matter what the situation.

However if you made it illeagal for DB's to take guys legs out then you should probably just take them off the field becuase they would be to small to tackle guys like Culpepper, Bettis, Duckett, and numerous other people. Teams would score 75 points every game and finesse players would be done in the league, every team would simply draft huge burisers that are to big to tackle without taking out their legs.

Mobile Qb?

Seems to me I remember a guy by the name of Gus that ran the team more than satisfactory when he filled in for C-Pepp.

Brad eh how good would anyone be to just be thrown into a game without being fully prepared.

Throw a starting pitcher on the mound in the 5th inning out of nowhere and see how he does.

Brad will do just fine, he just needs to get into game time mode. And you will not see Hill in the games, if they drop that low they will pickup another qb as their starter and keep Hill a backup.

What does anyone think about trading the Chargers for Phillip Rivers? Give them Smoot and another player for him.

Tough to compare Gus and Brad, completely different offensive line. I wish Brad the best, but I am afraid he will be crushed if the offensive line doesn't improve THIS week.

Culpepper has been a very mobile quarterback during his career. He struggled running this year due to injuries. Your trade proposition....I'll have whatever you are smoking.

C-Pepper was not that good. gus could of did the same thing last year. You have to remember Burk gave him time, and Moss would catch the good and the bad balls. And you all know there was alot of bad balls!!!

It was a just a matter of time before he took a career-ending hit. I'm glad to see him on the shelf. I hope that Ziggy has some input in the next draft.

The "I'm glad t see him on the shelf maybe? Sounds pretty incriminating!!

Different recievers and different schemes. Vikes are perfect for someone who can throw the ball quick and can toss deep every once in a while. Culpepper cant throw quick thats why he has struggled without a all pro line. Gus can throw quick but his recievers are nowhere near the ones on the Vikes.
