I just bought this reel I casted it a couple times in my yard and it seems pretty nice, has antone else used one of these reels.

Is yours a bait caster or a spinning reel? I have a President baitcaster. I was bass fishing and caught a 40" muskie on it the first week I had it. Great drag. It is a smooth casting reel too.

Check out the Guide Series Tournament spinning reel. It seems to be the exact same as the President; except for the the color and the wood handle, and of course the name on it. For 20 bucks less!

I use a President spinning reel as my back up. I'm very happy with it.

I just got one of Gander Mountain's Guide Series baitcasters for musky fishing. This reel is made by Flueger and called the Trion. The reason I got it is because I have heard good things about Pflueger. I remember reading some positive posts here on fishingminnesota.com about the President. You can try and do a search for it to find others opinions.

I picked up a Pflueger President spinning reel last season and couldn't be happier with it!

The drag is great, retrieve and casting are smooth as silk, and it's a lot less expensive than some of the other reels with the same features.

I have 2 pfleuger president baitcasters and they are smooth and tough...great drag. Couldn't be happier. Don't know how they compare to shimano's b/c I don't have a shimano. Send in for that free tackle bag. I really like it and for shipping only, nothing beats free tackle storage!!! and if you don't want it, I'll buy it from you

Two years ago I bought the Trion. great reel. Then they came out with the president so I picked that up!! I love the smoothness and consistant drag!! I'm sold on Phleuger! The wood handle looks pretty cool too!!

I have 3 of the baitcasters and 1 spinning. They are pretty sweet. Had the Baitcaster (2 of them) for over a year and so far they have held up beautifully, but I "only" fish about 3-4 times a week (during Bass Season).

I agree with what everyone has said so far - great reels - have two President spinning reels and one President baitcaster. Will be watching to see if I like it better than my Curado.

I just read something in Field and Stream that said the pflueger president bait caster is so well respected on the pro circuit that no one modifies it.

I was just going to post that same thing. That was a real selling point for me on the Presidents. I haven't made the purchase yet, but I am close. They feel very nice when I have tried them in stores. I have a Trion spinning reel that I have had for 3 years now and I have never had any problems at all with it. Very nice and smooth reel for $40, so I can imagine how nice a $130 reel will be

The Guide Series baitcasters are in the same class for sure. Very good reels, some are on sale too. The 56 class is a sweet reel for Med to Hvy use.

I am very impressed with the Guide Series spinning and baitcasting reels that I own and use daily. And this is coming from a big ABU fan Eh.
