Finlander
Here's one for ya! A few years back while ice fishing Mille Lacs, a friend of mine took out his brand new radio controlled Lambergini-Cuntsoch out of the box trying to set it up so he could run it out on the ice. First he puts batteries in the car then puts the car on the ice house floor, then he puts batteries in the remote controll box. The car took off, headed straight for the uncovered hole under the bunk and all you heared was a splash a man doing a mad scramle on the floor trying ot grab the car as it is sinking down the hole. All he could do was push it down faster trying to get a hold of it. Then man, all you could hear was all kinds of language not suitable for children for about an hour. All we could do was laugh! The car ran for about 1 second at best and now is structure out on Sloppy Joes reef!
mntraveler
I did the same thing...although not down a hole. Had my cell phone and 2-way in the front pocket of my bibbs during deer hunting to keep the batteries warm. Well, I got 3/4 of the way through gutting and leaned over a little too far. Needless to say I spent the next 15 minutes making some red equipment blue again.
hitthebricks
Haven't dropped the phone down a hole yet (just off the scaffold, but for me its a one way portal, DOWN. Had my two sided box of ice jigs sitting on a chair, dad moved it so he could sit down, passed it over a hole, presto that baby opened right up so 90% of them would end up on the bottom. Kind of looks like glitter sinking to the bottom. Holes are why there is Murphys Law. HTB
bigbucks
I did a dumb thing like that this year. Starting to pack up after a dry outing with my 6 year-old son. I reeled up all the lines & started to tip up the flip over fish house & ploop. Why did I leave that one rod laying on the ice between two holes & resting against the bottom of the house? All the others were laying in the middle of house. I half dove for it, melting a couple of spots on my bibs on the lantern & ripping my hand open on the ice at the edge of the hole, but no luck, good bye. That was three weeks ago today, my hand's still not completely healed, although very close.I started thinking, you know as luck would have it I'm fishing on a very shallow lake & it's only 6' deep, maybe a jigging spoon with a treble would get back my bait caster & rod. I said a short prayer & started trying different spoons, after 5-10 minutes I could tell it was awfully heavy & here it came. It didn't come up straight, but fortunately I managed to keep from knocking it off coming up the hole & I got it back. Funny thing was, even though I hurt my hand, damaged my bibs, & never got a bite, it seemed like a successful outing after that.
mpls_ham
Last year on Waconia I left a 250 pound lummox unattended in my fishtrap while relieving myself and he managed to deep six the coleman lantern. Now that takes a little bit of effort to fit a six inch diameter lantern down an eight inch hole. I still suspect sabatage.....
wooly1
Due to this strange "power of the hole" I have a strong magnet in my fish house. My only confusion is why I have not drop the magnet down the hole yet.Perhaps the "power of the hole" does not work with magnetized objects. polarsusd81
You guys might like this one. A few years back I was fishing Mille Lacs with family and friends in a rented shack. We were doing alright, 5 of us fishing and we had iced a fair number of Jumbos and I decided to go outside, check the tip ups and see if I could write my name in the snow. I asked my brother to watch my line while I was outside. After sucessfully writing my name, I opened the door of the shack to a strange noise. Sounded kinda like a fishing rod sliding accross a plywood floor, sure enough it was mine. My brother totally neglected to look at my line and notice the fish. I was [PoorWordUsage]ed, brought my brother outside and threw him in a snow bank. Then I hear my cousin Ryan yelling that he has a fish. So he starts to pull it in, and as he gets his line about half way up he looks down to see what it was, he couldn't see anything on his line but felt the weight. I told him to keep reelling, knowing that I had very low visibility line on my rod. He pops it out of the hole and what do you know, he has fishing line wrapped around his jig. I start pulling on the line, and at one end was a nice Jumbo and at the other was my ice rod. I ended up giving him the rod and the fish, I thought it was the right thing to do beings he caught it. But I made my brother pay for the rod. Needless to say, we still laugh about it and tell that story every time we hit the ice.Tom
Wayne Sieber
Two things I KNOW don't float after going in the hole :Poker Chips (on the south side of Doe Island on Mille Lacs) and rubber dinosaurs (my son was playing with them in the house on Waconia (just south of Pillsbury). The only thing cool about that was a rubber dinosaur on the bottom of a lake looks VERY cool on the underwater camera!!!)

anchor man
I dropped my car keys down the hole this past weekend. Thank god for the Aqua Vu and chubby darter. I was able to make the retrieve in 16ft of water within a few minutes.
PikeMan Seank
wow looks like we all lost something in the fishing hole. bet the fish are having a better time, then us are talking about our losses.
tonyjor
I've dropped numerous pieces of tackle when the box fell over onto the hole. The worst was losing my scoop last year on the first hole I drilled. I had to use the minnow scoop and it took a while before I was able to wet a line. I always keep important things (cell phone, keys, wallet) in a zipped up six-pack cooler made out of vinyl and foam. Works pretty good and if you do manage to drop it, it floats. The_Duckslayer
My cell phone is my work phone. I do not even know my wifes work, work cell, or personal cell numbers. They are all stored on my phone. Currently there are 300 numbers on my phone. I bought the program to load them to and from my computer. Could you imagine how long it would take to key all of them in on the keypad? Each project that I do nets me more phone numbers to put in so I type them out in the computer and up load them to the phone. MNmikew
I hear that Jimbo! I had a police scanner running in the garage once that got unplugged and somehow erased ALL 200 channels I had programed! 200 channels, 10 button clicks per channel, do the math. Now I have a PC programable scanner.
The_Duckslayer
I joined the club last night! Mine was only $178.00 though! Getting ready to leave, bent over to pick up the beer bottle and out of the coat pocket it fell. Never touched the ice! The Lil Mrs. had the same phone so we transfered my number to that phone, I down loaded her numbers to my computer and put my numbers on the phone. Today she will get a new phone... Pretty nice of me to buy her a new phone huh! ;-) Have a good one and N Joy the Hunt././Jimbo
sidecar pan fishin man
I was fishing in winona a few weeks ago with some friends when I went to pull the aqua view out of the bag and the tripod went down the hole The worst thing was I could see it on the bottom with the aqua view I tried for a while to snag it with no success. I used a pepsi 12 pack box to run the cord thru for the aqua view. It worked great for a quick fix. Troy Pike

Just teasing sorry about your luck. your still really lucky to have all your numbers. please share the name of the software and what hardware is need and maybe where you got it thanks
The_Duckslayer
You can get it where you got your phone. It was about 49 bucks I think. Trouble is with the new phone that the wife got it won't talk to it without an upgrade or another package, I dont know which. I am guessing that she will stop and get that today so that I can put her numbers back on her phone. Mine is from Verizon amd made to talk to the Motorola V120 and T720 phones. Used to have an AT&T phone and had their package. Ended up exporting and importing the numbers but hey, it was a lot easier than sitting there keying them in one at a time.
