Northlander
Only real way to solve the problem is pull the ducer out of the hole before the fish gets to it. Also dont hang the ducer too much under the bottom of the ice if at all.
18 inch Crappie
Drill a hole just for your transducer..
Browning83
Just wondering how everyone positions there transducer in the fishing hole so the fish dont wrap themselves aroudn it on the way up. I lost 4 dandy crappies tonight on the vexilar. I dont use the styrofome(sp) float....maybe i should.
Fishn'Lady
If the fish feels like a nice one I will always pull up the transducer. I've lost a few the same way and lately just pull it up to get it out of the way. The float thing won't help either, actually I think it makes it easier yet for them to tangle. In our bigger fish house with the wood floor we don't have the option to drill a hole just for the Vex, but in our Otter Lodge the floor is open of course and then it usually gets it's own hole. fishing 101
How durable is the transducer. I don't want to fling it on the ice or the floor of the house in fear of damaging it.

we are 'the leading edge' HSO Creators Rick Posted January 17, 2005 we are 'the leading edge' HSO Creators Share Posted January 17, 2005 You don't fling it. You pull it out fast and lay it down gently.
Deitz Dittrich
Its really best if you can have someone else take care of it.. Its a lot easier on your equipment. Also, I feel often times, its not as nessisary for people to put thier transducer so far down the hole.
EBass
It's hard to battle a fish with one hand and pull the ducer out with the other, but it can be done. Try to set the ducer down easy. Key word there is try. It would be nice to have a 3" hole for the ducer. That'd be a funny looking auger though.
muskybuck
If you know the fish are there and they are biting pretty good like it sounds they where, just fish without it for awhile. Sometimes you just don't need it. If it slows down stick it back in.
Mr.Seaguar
One of my buddies tried the seperate hole for transducer thing. You should have heard his potty mouth when a nice walleye wrapped around it in a different hole. I ended up hand over handing it into the vex hole. My answer is just pull it up. hip_hop_fisherman
All you can really do is pull it up. I wrap my cord up so there isn't any slack as I use the float. This way it at least doesn't bob around the hole. I also have it just to the bottom of the ice, so I can try and maneuver around it if for whatever reason I can't pull it up! mrwalleye_13
i will usually pull it up when i am fishing walters... i haven't had that many problems with that but i would say pull it up quick and just be careful with it.
