Losing fish on transducer

Just wondering how everyone positions there transducer in the fishing hole so the fish dont wrap themselves aroudn it on the way up. I lost 4 dandy crappies tonight on the vexilar. I dont use the styrofome(sp) float....maybe i should.

If the fish feels like a nice one I will always pull up the transducer. I've lost a few the same way and lately just pull it up to get it out of the way. The float thing won't help either, actually I think it makes it easier yet for them to tangle.

In our bigger fish house with the wood floor we don't have the option to drill a hole just for the Vex, but in our Otter Lodge the floor is open of course and then it usually gets it's own hole.

It's hard to battle a fish with one hand and pull the ducer out with the other, but it can be done. Try to set the ducer down easy. Key word there is try.

It would be nice to have a 3" hole for the ducer. That'd be a funny looking auger though. tongue.gif

One of my buddies tried the seperate hole for transducer thing. You should have heard his potty mouth when a nice walleye wrapped around it in a different hole. I ended up hand over handing it into the vex hole. My answer is just pull it up.
