They have come a long ways since you started giving them shiat around here.

 

Yeah they've come a long way since the days of Gutekunst and Wacker, sure. Not all that impressive to someone who follows a team with aspirations of winning a national championship every single year not just of beating Wisconsin which still barely ever happens. I've lived in this state since 1980 and went to lots of Gopher games as a high schooler. Never really took them seriously or thought they could even win the Big 10 let alone a national championship or even play in a premier bowl game on New Years day. 

 

It happens every time the Gophers get a half way decent coach. The excitement surrounding the program attracts a few recruits they wouldn't have normally got. Then they peak at about 9 wins and start to go back down hill. Looks like this year's team will be lucky to eek out 6 or 7 wins. The masses will be turning on Fleck in a couple of years when the boat he is rowing keeps going under water. 

 

I'm not sure what would make a person be genuinely excited about any Gophers season after what we've all been through for the last 50 or so years. Win the Big 10 even one time and I might consider taking them seriously.

Gophers deserved to lose yesterday.  Why is it that Purdue coaches were wearing military honoring shirts on the sideline but not the Gophers?
