Only half wrong....I see the ALABAMA FANS were LET DOWN BIG TIME! ❤?????????????

That's gonna leave a mark ????

Alabama fans were let down a few weeks ago with the loss to LSU then again when possibly the best QB in the country dislocated his hip.

The difference between the two programs is that Alabama's season will go down as a failure while gopher fans will view this as the most successful season in more than 50 years.

That’s a fair point. Alabama certainly has had a very successful football program for a very long time.

Yep and Minnesota fans will feel good knowing their program is on the rise while Alabama fans will just feel terrible about Alabama's failure.

Gophers vs. Crimson Tide? Signs point to Minnesota bowl against the gold standard.

It looks like Minnesota remains pegged for the Outback Bowl on New Year’s Day bowl in Tampa, Fla.

ESPN’s Kyle Bonagura saw the Crimson Tide’s fall to 12th, looked ahead and tweeted: “The rankings this week set up a strong possibility that 10-2 Baylor could wind up in the (‘New Year’s Six’ bowls, likely the Cotton) ahead of 10-2 Alabama. Auburn (then goes to the Citrus and Alabama to the Outback Bowl.”

CBS Sports’ Jerry Palm also has Baylor in the “New Year’s Six” top tier of bowls, as does Stadium’s Brett McMurphy, who slot:

 Minnesota vs. Alabama.

How about that wild prospect? The Gophers might draw a dynastic Alabama program.

Fleck is moving this team in the right direction.

If Fleck stays I will not be surprised to see the Gophers moving into API top 25 rankings in the next couple years and top 10 rankings in the next 5 years.

Considering Jerry Kill took them to the Citrus Bowl and Tracy Claeys won 2 consecutive low tier bowl games, including the exact same bowl game Fleck won, I would say the team is going in the exact same direction it was 3 or 4 years ago.

Top 10 in the Big 10 maybe.......

A good start would be to just beat Iowa and Wisconsin once in a while

Yeah that would be a good start.  We should have won that Iowa game but we got handled pretty well from Wisconsin.

Gophers beat Auburn in spite of the refs 31-24.

Good thing for Alabama they didn't have to play us and got to play a weak Michigan team. ?

GOPHER NATION!!! Great way to start off the year! Gophers pretty much own the state of Alabama when it comes to football! Now undefeated against both Alabama and Auburn! Great overall performance, and huge win for the program!

Too bad they don't own the state of Iowa or Wisconsin......

MINNESOTA OWNS ALABAMA IN 21ST CENTURY

The two Alabama powerhouse football programs have always been defeated by the Minnesota Gophers. The Gophers upstart football program is poised to retake their pre-70s historically dominant football position.

Congrats to the Gophers on their first 11 win season in 115 years. Wonder how long it will take to have another one?

Thank you. Neither of the Alabama football teams have managed to win against the Minnesota Gophers in well over 115 years. Again, Alabama is very lucky they got Michigan instead of the Gophers. ???

The Gophers beat the higher ranked Auburn War Eagles handily. Nuff said. ???

Was pulling for the Gophers, but it was a very entertaining game even for the casual fan with no rooting interest in which team won. Really surprised with how well our O-line handled their D-Line. I would think that game also opened some eyes on the recruiting trail. Our offense wasn't a typical boring Big 10 run heavy attack and the whole team seemed like they enjoy playing with each other and for Fleck.

In PJ Fleck's AFCA speech he mentioned that the Gophers beat an Auburn team with 58 recruits who were 4*. How many for MN? 5. Alabama Rollovers even more.

Those 4* comparison numbers are true (and were pretty much the same for Penn State's roster, too).

PJ has improved recruiting: we've moved from a point where we now get higher rated 3 stars, and our floor (at mid-level 3 stars) has also been raised.

The Gophers, however, are still a few years away from classes loaded with 4* players.

So, here's the deal, whether you like PJ or not: He has taken a team of well-selected 3* star players, augmented by a few key 4* (Coughlin, Bateman, Faalale and Dunlap) and molded them into a well-coached, synchronous team that easily stays with and/or beats the teams comprised of 4* (and 5*) players.

He is an inspirational coach who gets the absolute most out of his players.

You don't have to like PJ, but I find it really hard to understand how folks can't respect him and the Minnesota  Golden Gophers for the results he has already achieved.

He is great at finding undervalued talent and at "coaching up" talent--just like Auburn and Alabama plagued by "coaching down" talent.

Also remember that the Gophers didn't have to play Ohio State or Michigan this last season which made rowing the boat a bit easier.

I'd say Michigan was happier about not playing us than we were not playing them.
