I suppose yer expecting a blow-by-blow dissertation on his winter pre-rigging tactics, along with a complete breakdown of mechanical pre-service and test run specification checks?  Maybe Big Dave can provide hot snacks while you two nosh over the particulars.....

Oh helll no. I have "faith" the Duff keeps his gear in good working order! Just didn't know if he still had it to do a little sled-porty fishing this winter?  ;)

Image result for herters snowmobile for saleMy dad bought a Herter's in 1970. Had a blast riding that thing. It worked best when the temp was below zero and I was going downhill.

That thing is sweet!  True Art!  :)

The pic was an internet find. There are probably some old pics of the sled at my mothers but this was easier. I can honestly say I had the most fun with this snowmobile of any I ever rode. I'm kind of looking for a vintage sled to tinker with this winter. We had a neighbor with a ski-whiz. It was fun in those days.

Old iron was fun to ride, but I don't have to many fillings left in my teeth!

Can you leave Art out of this?! :P  Wow, forgot about the old Herter's sleds, Roony!! Great pic!

Remember the old Massey whizzers? And who can forget Chuck Connors for Scorpion? ;)

I had one of those Brutt's back in the day. That thing was fast if you were going straight. It didn't have any foot wells so a ruff ditch was a dam. But in the long run I wish I still had it.

Image result for rupp snowmobile pictures

I got this for Christmas when I was in fifth grade. Rode the dump out of that sled.

After I fried a piston on the TNT 400 Freeair I rebuilt it and sold it. I then got a Rupp Yankee  with a 40hp 440 motor in it. The little thing flew but had a short track so was all over the trails!

The plastic side planes would crack in the cold and were all must impossible to find! :(

how many times did you hit a big drift or a driveway and the side panels start flopping?

1971 AC Puma with the 399 Koehler. It was a mint condition barn find that we had to put crank seals in. The sled still sits in the barn, and I have been very tempted to pull it out and get it going again. Sled pictured is not mine but is identical

That at was about 22 years ago. Since then I have had a slurry of sleds....74 Chapparal 292, 76 panther 440, 86 Formula MX 470, 99 XC 600. Current sleds are a 2006 Polaris Fusion 600 and a 2006 Ski Doo GTX 600

Shees, you sound like me over the years. 4 Ski doo's, 1 Rupp, 1 Yamaha, 3 Polaris's and now a Arctic Cat.

Moto Ski Capri 250 think 71 or 72. Had the rubber cleated track on it. My dads friend gave it to me because I would drool over his El Tigre 5000. Then it went to a Yamaha GP338, 1980 Scorpion TK440, 1989 Polaris Indy 500, 1993 Polaris XLT 580, 2001 Yamaha SXR 700, 1980 Yamaha Enticer 340 (kids), 1989 Yamaha Exciter 570, 1994 EXT 550, and now a 1998 ZL 500.

    • got this tackled today took about 3 hours to get both sides done. Didnt even get to use a torch....   Thought I was golden with just jacking it up and I could get to everything but no luck. Had to remove the entire axle hub and brake assembly to get to what I needed. Was a pain but still better then taking off the entire pivot arm.    Axle bearings were already greased and in great shape thankfully. Got both leaf springs installed and its ready for the road again.   Probably going to have my electric brakes checked, I am not touching anything with the brake drums. Based on what I saw it doesn't look like my electric brakes have been working anyway. Brakes are nice to have if its slippery out
    • By The way that didn't work either!! Screw it I'll just use the cellular.
    • It’s done automatically.  You might need an actual person to clear that log in stuff up.   Trash your laptop history if you haven’t tried that already.
    • 😂 yea pretty amazing how b o o b i e s gets flagged, but they can't respond or tell me why I  can't get logged in here on my laptop but I can on my cellular  😪
    • I grilled some brats yesterday, maybe next weekend will the next round...
    • You got word censored cuz you said        B o o b ies….. haha.   Yeah, no… grilling is on hiatus for a bit.
    • Chicken mine,  melded in Mccormick poultry seasoning for 24 hours.  Grill will get a break till the frigid temps go away!
    • we had some nice weather yesterday and this conundrum was driving me crazy  so I drove up to the house to take another look. I got a bunch of goodies via ups yesterday (cables,  winch ratchet parts, handles, leaf springs etc).   I wanted to make sure the new leaf springs I got fit. I got everything laid out and ready to go. Will be busy this weekend with kids stuff and too cold to fish anyway, but I will try to get back up there again next weekend and get it done. I don't think it will be bad once I get it lifted up.    For anyone in the google verse, the leaf springs are 4 leafs and measure 25 1/4" eye  to eye per Yetti. I didnt want to pay their markup so just got something else comparable rated for the same weight.   I am a first time wheel house owner, this is all new to me. My house didn't come with any handles for the rear cables? I was told this week by someone in the industry that cordless drills do not have enough brake to lower it slow enough and it can damage the cables and the ratchets in the winches.  I put on a handle last night and it is 100% better than using a drill, unfortatenly I found out the hard way lol and will only use the ICNutz to raise the house now.
