leechlake
I have a #1 material possession in my outdoor life and maybe my life, my Case knife my dad bought me when I was 12 years old. It's been with me for 36 years. You could have any gun I own over this knife. I wore it on my belt as a young lad deer hunting. Learned to take if off the belt when we went to town as was my dad's rule. I love this knife and truly protect it like no other thing I own. I found it in the living room today and the leather handle was chewed pretty good by a 18 month old lab. I found it way after the fact, she wasn't even around. I didn't yell but I'm bummed and I can't find the sheath right now. I'm guessing I can get if fixed but it won't be the same. I may just get a new one. Terrible day
Popular Post Bobby Bass
Yup that will get a guy down. Have a wallet here on my desk that about thirty years old or so. One corner of it is chewed off from a pup I had way back when. The wife bought me a new wallet but I ended up giving it away as the old leather wallet was chewed in so to speak. I have the wallet in my hands now and as I spin it around I am reminded off the pup and of one of my tom cats, the one that thinks he is a retriever, there are tiny teeth marks where he would climb up on my dresser and steal my wallet. I guess I am saying that down the road that chewed up knife, well it is just going to be a reminder of that dog of yours.. leech~~, JP Z, leechlake and 2 others

jmd1
So over holiday, at the in laws darn dog got my upper denture plate and was carrying it around. I took 3 good bites from the little rat to retrieve them in tact. Could not Imagine having to explain that to the dentist. Not my prize possession but still nice to have. RebelSS
Soak the leather handle overnite and try to flatten and work it as much back into place as possible. It's still the same knife, with the same handle, and a few new memories added to it...like the scars we gather in a lifetime. Don't think they eat in one piece but you make find some good size pieces and mainly you want to make sure it cleared. Keep sakes need to start being put higher around the house now. leechlake

lovebigbluegills
BB, Reb and Boar's replies about sum up what I would have replied, but are a bit more eloquent. Although the sheath may be lost, the teeth marks in the handle are just a bit more character in its storied life.
LindellProStaf
I notice a few things I have that have been chewed up by my yellow labs that have passed on. I remember how much it pissed me off when they did it. The older I got the less it bothered me. Now I see those things and I remember which lab chewed on it and it is a special moment as I remember that dog. The chewed things now bring back good memories. Makes it more special in a way..... reinhard1 and bobberineyes
bobbymalone
I have an original ewok action figure from 1983 that has a chewed up leg from my dog. I cried at the time, but that's actually the only original star wars action figure that I kept, because I felt bad for him after the mauling. Many of the other ones met their fates in front of a BB gun firing squad. Boar, Bobby Bass, reinhard1 and 1 other
