Coup d'etat - Health Nuts

Recommended Posts

Holy Cow!  We've got ying to our yang going on on HSO.  I just stumbled onto a thread in the Health/Fitness forum.  Del is involved and I believe a spy of some sort.  The thread is about "prepping" meals.  While all fine and well for those health conscious people it seems to be about most things us Cooking guys don't follow in the slightest.

I'm not saying we won't throw some veggies on our plates but there is a photo with about two weeks worth of meals in slotted containers.  It's all the same stuff, chicken breast, green beans, I'm sure no starch of any kind.  These guys are going to live forever!!!  No mention of a smoker, christmas cookies, pickled fish, polish sausage...nothing.

More importanly Del is involved and mentioned something about breakfast of cut oats, protein powder, bean sprouts, and Splenda.  I believe he needs to be brought up on espionage charges.  Who agrees?

I think he's had too much flax seed oil.   Must go back to his childhood, and his healthy  "portion plate".

Del back then:

There weren't any bean sprouts.  :D

I warned the guys over there to stay out of this forum.  Doing them and us a favor.  Seeing food that tastes good might corrupt them.

And I think that was asparagus in the picture not green beans.  Even though it wasn't my picture, I really like asparagus.

As for eating healthy, I have my reasons.  Not that I do it all the time, but I still have that big scar on my chest to remind me to take it easy.  Careful or I'll post a picture.

Del, my wife want's to go on a diet after the new year .  She said I can eat whatever I want but I may go on it for a little while.  I did gain 10 pounds so far since September [normal for me].  But I can loose it quickly while my wife does it slowly.  So It may be a good idea to have a thread on eating "lean" but still packing a flavor punch.  Great challenge to all.  Good luck.

Maybe it is just somebody pretending to be del. I don't think the real del would risk his man card that way.

it was I, doing a public service so the guy trying to get back to the 5% body fat of his youth doesn't wander in here by mistake and get corrupted.

My wife is on a NO carb diet and has lost 20 lbs so far so it is working. She has made up some different things to eat that really did not do it for me. I try not eat anything that tempts her too much or at least in front of her. She is eating a lot more protein and that is good in my book.

Same here Jim.  I also find it hard to eat the tasty stuff when  she decides to loose a few.  So I generally eat what I make for her during this time [I do wander off on weekends though some from the diet].   I wish I would have written down some of the stuff I made.  Mostly meat and salad meals or meat and veggie's [grilled].  good luck.

looks like the horse is out of the barn/corral/stable whatever it is.  Hard to argue about losing some lbs though.  I think everyone needs to figure out what works for them.  For me it's moderate exercise and tracking what I eat.  My wife turned me onto a weight watchers app that keeps track of points.  You get, let's say, 35 points for a day and everything you put in your mouth has a value and exercise has a value.  During golf season it's awesome because walking and carrying clubs is 12 points approx so I could shovel 12 more points in my mouth.  You don't have to pay for it, you can just keep track on pencil and paper and look up the point values.

I know for me that not drinking doesn't help me lose weight.  I don't know why but it never has and it's probably associated with eating more sweets or more in general.  I do know that if and when we eat out I will order fish if possible.  If not I generally eat half of what is on my plate.  Restaurants over serve portions more than you do at home.

Going on a cruise does not help lose weight.  Did it once, didn't like it anyway, but gained one pound a day.
