I can't say enough how much I enjoy this cooking and sharing recipes forum. Just good folks sharing great food ideas and some humor, no arguing or attacking anybody's opinions. Thanks, everybody. Have a wonderful Thanksgiving.

.Happy Thanksgiving to all and a big thank you for being a huge extended family. No matter how good or bad a day I have I can always count on coming here and finding something to put a smile on my face or make me take a pause and think about something. In a world where crazy things seem to have become the norm it is good to come here and read about the good things in other people's life's. Best part I can do it in my underwear at three in the morning while eating a turkey sandwich! From all the folks, the tourist and the dogs here at Lake Iwanttobethere have a safe holiday. Bobby

Happy Thanksgiving to all!! Haven't had much time to get on the net lately, as I decided to take a new job after 21 years with my previous employer. So if I disappear from time to time, its not that I don't like you guys, its that I'm way to busy to be screwing around on the web!!   :D

Ya always good to talk to you guys.  I just mentioned this in the Game Day Thread and then saw this.  You are right Crow.  Some of the other places I visit everybody just jumps on each others back criticizing and getting mean.  I can't stand it.  It feels good to be good to others.  I am far from perfect but being here always feels good.  Happy Thanks giving to all of you.  Thanks Boar.  I am making Old Fashioned Ring bologna RH1.  That is Fridays fun.   Thanks

Tomorrow morning some dumb show on CBS or something will have an Emergency Butterball phone line segment on what to do if the turkey is screwed up.  Heck, they could just log on here and get a better answer in no time.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Very thankful for all the great advice and great friends I've made on this page - while I think we're mostly only virtual friends now, we're all kindred spirits and I'm sure we'll meet up someday.

I somehow know that there will be no bad meals had amongst us tomorrow!

God Bless...

I don't really know what to say.  I always carve the turkey at my in laws.  We all got called into eat and it was already carved.  At dinner I asked who carved the turkey. She replied "I made the turkey yesterday, it makes everything easier."  I love my mother in law btw.

This is a gross violation of Thanksgiving Tradition and i won't let it stand. I will wait for a good time to discuss this and be assured it won't happen again.  I will host otherwise.

Yep, best wishes to all the "foodies" back here. No "weird" stuff on my part today.......brined and webbered to near perfection(left side was a few degrees warmer than the right though) ....with plenty of carb laden side dishes smothered in gravy goodness.

    • yes sorry for your loss..  our dogs are always special...
    • Truly sorry to hear that duffman! I know that feeling.  Keep the good memories
    • Chamois passed away this weekend a couple days short of her 13th bday. What a great dog to hang out with here at home and on distant adventures. Gonna miss ya big time my little big girl.
    • Sounds pretty sweet, alright. I will check them out, thanks.
    • If you really want to treat your wife (and yourself) with a remote operated trolling motor, the Minn Kota Ulterra is about easy as it gets.  Auto stow and deploy is pretty awesome.  You just have to turn the motor on when you go out and that the last time you have to touch it.   24V 80lb.  60 inch shaft is probably the right length for your boat.  They ain’t cheap - about $3k - but neither one of you would have to leave your seat to use it all day.
    • Wanderer, thanks for your reply. I do intend for it to be 24 volt, with a thrust of 70-80. Spot lock is a must (my wife is looking forward to not being the anchor person any more).  With my old boat we did quite a lot of pulling shad raps and hot n tots, using the trolling motor. Unlikely that we will fish in whitecaps, did plenty of that when I was younger. I also need a wireless remote, not going back to a foot pedal. We do a fair amount of bobber fishing. I don't think I will bother with a depth finder on the trolling motor. I am leaning toward moving my Garmin depth finder from my old boat to the new one, just because I am so used to it and it works well for me. I am 70 years old and kinda set in my ways...
    • Dang, new content and now answers.   First, congrats on the new boat!   My recommendation is to get the most thrust you can in 24V, assuming a boat that size isn’t running 36V.  80 might be tops?  I’m partial to MinnKota.     How do you plan to use the trolling motor is an important question too.     All weather or just nice weather?   Casting a lot or bait dragging?   Bobber or panfish fishing?   Spot lock?  Networked with depth finders?  What brand of depth finders?
    • We have bought a new boat, which we will be picking up this spring. It is an Alumacraft Competitor 165 sport with a 90 horse Yamaha motor. I will be buying and installing a trolling motor,  wondering if I can get some recommendations on what pound thrust I will want for this boat?  Also, I will be selling my old boat, is there a good way to determine the value on an older boat ( mid-80's with a 75 horse 2-stroke  Mariner motor)  I will appreciate any help with these questions.
