Lets start a topic to see what everyones favorite lure is.

My favorite lure is probally a Rapala DT-16.
I just bought it to try it out used it one day and caught a bunch of bass. I also caught my biggest ever on it 21 in LM.

My secound favorite would have to be a texas rigged tube.

jerk shads or the old berkely power pogies, they came in big sizes for jigging muskies and large pike, small enough to thump for walleyes and erratic enought to catch stripers, white, wipers, largemouth and smallmouth! tip the pogies with a bass style jig head and your set! Or a 4/0 tru0turn hook through the jerk shad working weightless on the ledges and edges!

Mepps Comet #3 or 4 for smallmouth. On the Mississippi(near St. Cloud) a friend and I caught 27 smallies with this lure last Wednesday. The biggest was 19".

I have become a huge fan of the Rapala DT cranks. Last year I bought a few DT-10's and DT-16's and did well on the deep weedlines for active summer fish. This year I bought a new DT-6 and used it around Brainerd on bass opener in the cold, rainy weather and they loved it. I always do best with a variety of crank and pause retrieves. I'm surprised the DT-16 is already finding deep bass.

I've found a bunch of favorites over the years, but most recently I've started using inline spinners for smallies on the river and have had great success. If anyone sees any Terminator inline titanium spinners on sale, pick them up or email me as to their where abouts for me... (just got two @ gander for 75% off).

Other than that, my go to baits are smoke, black or green with red flake tubes & white spinnerbaits. My favorite to get top water on is scumfrogs & zara spooks and it's not one of my favorites but surprisingly I always seem to have one tied on because they are so effective - senkos (or any other senko style stick type bait).

I agree Chris, -- touch-bait, be it jig-n-pig or t-rigged worm -- something about that THUNK - reel down, and set the hook on some good meat. That's really satisfying. HOWEVER...

Topwater frog through the pads -- BAMM, What a RUSH!!

Or how about throwin' a sluggo shallow and seein' a bulge of water and wake movin' in from 4 feet away.

Or how about... Oh never mind.

Yea that thump on a jig is something you don't get worm fishing very often... They really inhale the jigs.

Oh, and for color, must be black/blue your talking about - I use this color combo at least 75% of the time I'm jig fishing...

I have never fished with Senkos.
What is the key to fishing with them?

Do you use them shallow or deep, and do you fish them like a worm?
Also how do you rig them?
and what colors work best?

For consistently catching big fish jig and pig hands down and for me there is only color but you will have to figure that one out yourself. I have been introduced to Senkos this year and will fish with those more, next best thing to cheating.
