Just wondering if anyone has gotten the ice stuff out and wend through it, switched over tackle boxes, re strung poles, tested flash lights, and turned on the flasher to hear the inevitable hum that precedes a bite?

I have the itch to get the stuff out, but just have not done it yet (although I have put in Grumpy Old Men and watched that a couple times). Best movie to prep for the ice season by far.

I have'nt yet but will soon. I've come to the realization I have too much stuff and outside of my favorites and stuff I actually use I will be putting a bunch of ice tackle up for sale. I don't fish Panfish and have gobs of stuff as well as just too many duplicates of this that and some more !! Don't know why I stocked up on so much and I'll never use most of it up before I keel over so I may as well move some of it out as the season soon starts and folks may be willing to buy bulk lots at cheap price !!

The Ice Castle is all set which included: all new winches (3), brakes fixed, propane tank platform replaced, exterior light bulb and lug nuts replaced, interior vacuumed and cleaned, generator oil changed and fired up, propane tanks refilled (IC and 10#'er for portable), zerks and bearings greased/re-packed, DirecTv called to (re)activate receiver (due to inactivity), electrical plug-in head unit (on castle) replaced and electrical receiver (on truck) replaced.

Also replaced Auger spark plug, changed out bulbs, bought a new spare and greased sled trailer.

To Do includes: fire up and sharpen auger blades, clean porty, re-spool rods and tip-ups, organize tackle box and take inventory, "winterize" snowmobile and maybe put new tires on the truck.

Dang, it sure takes a lot of work to get a line wet in the winter now that I look at it....

beyond Guilty. We dragged our big portable into the cabin garage last February and never touched it. Stuff strewn all over the place in the back of the garage near it. Did take care of the auger though but beyond that I may have a life sentence on this one.

For sure. The Legend Thermal is still in storage for a couple more weeks, but the rods have come out, last years line has come off the reels and I'm looking at getting them restrung soon, and the tackle box is getting getting reorganized with new lures purchased already. The Jiffy has been fired up multiple times and the Bird 45 has been turned on and batteries charged. The Ice Armor suit has been cleaned and lake maps are being looked over. Yep, I'm ready for ice!

I never quit! Bought a differnt wheel house when last winters ice was melting. It's been none stop since, did about 3000.00 in upgrades to it and as soon as it was done (are you ever truly done?) I started to build a 4x6 that I could get out a few weeks earlier then the big house. There hasn't been a week since last season that I haven't bought, made or improved something for ice fishing. Never even bought a bow licence this year, first time since I started bow hunting 16 years ago.

Well, thanks alot guys, now I feel behind, I got my snow blower out, moved my lawn equipment inside, pulled out the ice gear but just have my auger hanging on the wall, haven't touched it yet. House was out, then put back in. I need to get lights on it, a new pull rope on it, and clean it out (bought it new last year, and by the time I got it home, the perm shacks were ready to go out). Reels and poles have not even been seen yet, and im going to get my ice jigs, and lures today so will be stringing them up soon. Bought a trailer and a heater so far, and im going to be trying to build a new perm shack hopefully once school slows down.

But you guys put me to shame.... dang

Yep, no shame. Lots of stuff to do around the house and crossing off on the honey do list yet. Think about it, the more you get done now, the more time you get to spend on the ice later, without the warden being as crabby. She still will be though....lol. Pumkin carving tonight and trick or treating tomorrow, garden and yard this weekend. You got over a month to go before ice, it will come......

New flasher (resolved the issue I posted in a different forum), new tackle bag with a lot more room so that means.....more jigs! Auger has been fired up a few times recently as well. All that is left for me is change the LED wiring in my portable so that it used alligator clips instead of spade connectors and then install reflectix on the roof and back.

That's what I'm talking about when I talk about America!

    • got this tackled today took about 3 hours to get both sides done. Didnt even get to use a torch....   Thought I was golden with just jacking it up and I could get to everything but no luck. Had to remove the entire axle hub and brake assembly to get to what I needed. Was a pain but still better then taking off the entire pivot arm.    Axle bearings were already greased and in great shape thankfully. Got both leaf springs installed and its ready for the road again.   Probably going to have my electric brakes checked, I am not touching anything with the brake drums. Based on what I saw it doesn't look like my electric brakes have been working anyway. Brakes are nice to have if its slippery out
    • By The way that didn't work either!! Screw it I'll just use the cellular.
    • It’s done automatically.  You might need an actual person to clear that log in stuff up.   Trash your laptop history if you haven’t tried that already.
    • 😂 yea pretty amazing how b o o b i e s gets flagged, but they can't respond or tell me why I  can't get logged in here on my laptop but I can on my cellular  😪
    • I grilled some brats yesterday, maybe next weekend will the next round...
    • You got word censored cuz you said        B o o b ies….. haha.   Yeah, no… grilling is on hiatus for a bit.
    • Chicken mine,  melded in Mccormick poultry seasoning for 24 hours.  Grill will get a break till the frigid temps go away!
    • we had some nice weather yesterday and this conundrum was driving me crazy  so I drove up to the house to take another look. I got a bunch of goodies via ups yesterday (cables,  winch ratchet parts, handles, leaf springs etc).   I wanted to make sure the new leaf springs I got fit. I got everything laid out and ready to go. Will be busy this weekend with kids stuff and too cold to fish anyway, but I will try to get back up there again next weekend and get it done. I don't think it will be bad once I get it lifted up.    For anyone in the google verse, the leaf springs are 4 leafs and measure 25 1/4" eye  to eye per Yetti. I didnt want to pay their markup so just got something else comparable rated for the same weight.   I am a first time wheel house owner, this is all new to me. My house didn't come with any handles for the rear cables? I was told this week by someone in the industry that cordless drills do not have enough brake to lower it slow enough and it can damage the cables and the ratchets in the winches.  I put on a handle last night and it is 100% better than using a drill, unfortatenly I found out the hard way lol and will only use the ICNutz to raise the house now.
