bbfenatic
It matters not who you think should have won the Conn Smythe, that is chosen by people who know a little bit more than you . You are just bitter cuz I picked the Kings to win it last year ! And I have posted already....I will be ready to eat crow if the Wild make the playoffs...that my fork was stuck so deep in them I could not find it...did not see Dubs coming in and shutting everyone down (nor did anyone else see that coming).....so I can man up and admit I was dead wrong if they make the playoffs...and I hope they do prove me wrong quite frankly. bobberineyes
I thought most of the kings series went seven games last year.....I'd hardly call that steam rolled.
bbfenatic
I believe that is right....then the championship vs Rangers was 4-1....my mention of steamroll was more in their physical style than it was to how many games a series went...it was awesome. bobberineyes
As what was mentioned earlier about Brown from the kings, watching what he did to poms then seeing him on the USA team just about sent me into orbit. With that being said I've always rooted for the west no matter what happened to the home town team. It took everything I had to hope the kings won again, some say a sunshine state team should never beat an original 6 team in the cup, but that has nothing to do with it. bbfenatic
I'm not a Brown fan either. I like good clean physical play...the game is designed to have contact but the dirty dump is gutless...can ruin another player's career with that kind of stupidity IMO. PierBridge
No no no BB. You dont get to back trac like that. You said with 40 some games left if we dont get 8 of a possible 10 points over the next 5 games the season was over. We didnt, not even close and sunk much deeper after those comments. The season and the playoffs were and are not even close to being over and you dont win that one even if we miss the playoffs here. On a side note I'm very much alive for my PRE season prediction of us missing the playoffs on the last day of the season!.. Ill give ya the Islanders prediction at this point but anybody could of picked the Kings who won the cup just a year earlier! Just razzin ya a little bud!! Go Wild!!!! Ah come on man....So I am SOL either way, they don't get in and my stating they won't is null? And then if they do get in I am eating crow...how does that work? I said with 40 games left that they needed 8 of 10, which they did not get so can't I still stand on my prediction that they will not make the playoffs? IMO schedule at end is too tough no matter how they do now IMO...would love to see it but if this were a bet for $$ I'd certainly bet against them making it in....and you may be spot on...losing out last day of the season !!! NYI is fun to watch...they built around Tavares and it paid off...hope KO makes it back soon....they have been rebuilding forever and Snow should have lost his job long ago but he hung on long enough to turn it around. So glad they are moving to a new Arena...the Nassau Coliseum is worst I have ever been in and has been the worst for 20 years IMO...good fans up on the Island though. fishing tech
The Jets got Stafford and Myers, a couple of prospects and a draft pick. They get bigger and the Wild, well they will get thumped some more.
bobberineyes
That's the sad part, our gms used to have that frame of mind but not anymore. Until they have some size and speed or 2 or 3 Crosby kind of players play makers we will be outside looking in. Bringing in a decent goalie is just part of the scenario to bring home some hardware. OnAFly
Crosby is arguably the best player in the league. There aren't 2 or 3 of him. Any team that had that would be completely dominant over everyone else. The Wild were a victim of Fletcher's inability to find a replacement for Backstrom in 2012 and the waves of plague which ran through our locker room. bobberineyes
That's what I said size and speed or a couple Crosby s......he's a heck of a player but there's a lot more of him around the league besides him.

They cam out flying in the first but we still managed to hang with them just fine after a back to back and the shots pulled fairly even by the end of the game. I think Nino it a post toward the end of the game that could have won it for us. Now if you are talking size and skill then the Kings and Blues certainly have our number. This is a separate topic altogether but I dont' think we need to put too much praise on Dubnyk, sure he has been great and just what we need but the team in front of him has also played great D also, other than a few games he hasn't face a ton of shots. I agree. Dubnyk has played solid and that is all we really need when our team plays the way they should. We don't need a superstar goalie, just one that doesn't give up soft goals. 10,000 Casts
Quote:Eh the Jets don't worry me that much.well they got immediate help since Kane was injured and they got 2 prospects and a 1st rd pick. I'd say they just got better. They also have a ton of cap space this year and an extra pick if they choose to go out and get a rental. I think this just solidified them in the playoffs. Stafford is a free agent next year and he lives in MN. He'd be a nice depth pick up for the Wild imo. Not sure if he is worth $4m yr
Bear55
The D swap with Buffalo was a wash and they lost Kane for Stafford and prospets, I think they just got worse short term but long term it could certainly pay off for them. They are no doubt having a good year but we could easily be tied with them if it wasn't for Backs and Kuemper falling apart earlier this year. Kane was not playing well and "on the outs" with teammates so getting rid of him was good idea IMO and it allows Bufflien to go back to D instead of being forced to play forward (he's a beast in either position)...plus with a 1st round pick and some good trade bait (Bendan Lemieux is big left winger 31st overall pick last yr) my guess is Jets are not done dealing before the deadline...they are putting themselves in a great position IMO. Plus Buffalo has to pay half of Stafford's remianing salary. What is most evident is that Buffalo is tanking...throwing in the towel and setting themselves up for the Draft...probably McDavid IMO. They've been rebuilding for how long now???
OnAFly
The Jets got a great deal for Kane considering he was basically forcing a trade and injured. Usually, when a team is in that position, they get almost nothing in return. This was very fortunate for them. They got a few things they can use now (Stafford and Meyers) and a few for later (Armia, Pick). Honestly, I didn't think Kane had that much value. Buffalo got a solid top 6 winger if they can figure out how to get him to play nice with everyone else. Bogosian I guess is a good pick up for them. I think he's nearing the end of his deal though. solbes
So... Dubnyk again? Thought the forum opinion here told Yeo it was time to give him some time off and Keumps the start. What, Mike doesn't listen to us?
Bear55
After a day off of hockey and seeing that Vancouver won in OT last night I want to switch back to Dubnyk too not sure he is going to miss a game until he is showing signs of fatigue or we have a spot locked up. Hate to say this but right now I don't think we can risk giving him some rest.
PierBridge
Yeah I dont see any chance he doesnt play every game from here on out.One he was a backup before we acquired him so no previous fatigue and two he seems so calm, cool and collected. He doesn't use any unnecessary energy. As somebody mentioned above we are ALL IN on DD..
bbfenatic
Agree Bear...until he says "I can't go" we have to ride him hard and put him away wet...points way too critical at this point...and we are at that time guys will go dinged up anyway IMO.
