Son's 1st ski

My 9 year old son, Ryan, has three goals for this year: 1) to shoot a turkey this past Spring (mission accomplished), 2) to catch a muskie (see pic below), and 3) to shoot his first deer with his bow (only time will tell!)

We did our yearly Father-Son Camping trip to LOW this past weekend and Ryan knew this would be is best chance to catch a muskie for the year. Muskie fishing was tough- I couldn't find any fish on rock and many of our normal cabbage spots had little or no cabbage in them due to the very high water. Plus, the water was really bloomed up in many places, particularly given that the temps were 67-71 and it wasn't even the 20th of July yet! However, we found one cabbage filled saddle that had a few fish in it and on our third trip in there Ryan managed to hook up with a muskie.

He pitched his white with black dotted Suick out and after two sweeps of the rod, BANG! He set the hook hard and the fish blew up on the surface. After a good battle we got it in the net. He was jacked up and I was both excited and relieved! Goal #2 of 3 accomplished!

Congrats to both of you and great memories for both of you. Scoot with you on his side he will get his deer.

Thanks Monstermoose- I appreciate it. Ryan is still on Cloud 9 and currently refers to himself as "Muskie Boy"!!! LOL
