Yeah, of all the shows the discovery or history channels have put out, this is the one that doesn't seem to ever get old.

I'm sure it was completely setup, but I got a kick out of when the Time Bandit initiated "Sunshine" by making him paint their logo on the Northwestern.

I still love this show. Some of it may be set up but try as they might, they don't control the weather or fishing.

I do wish they would have dumped the Saga and Elliot. He is an immature one-who-thinks-I-am-silly which he proved to everyone who watched the show last year.

I hate-watch Elliot and the Saga. Even the camera crew fears for their lives on his boat. Elliot says he is going to just fish this year and stay off the phone. We'll see... Junior is on the fence in my opinion, too, with some of his antics and lack of respect for the other boats and captains. This show can't all be happy days on the Northwestern and life lessons on the Wizard for this show to survive. Need some friction and bad decisions to keep this thing going, and Elliot and Junior are just what the doctor ordered.

Interesting that Sig is the only captain that was around in season 1 to make it through to season 10. Honestly, I respect that boat the most.

I think I would watch "Freddy-est Catch" with an hour devoted to Freddy Maugatai on and off the boat. That dude is about the most honest, humble, and hard-working (maybe not the smartest) dude in the fleet! Here is a pic with his kid.

That poor little guy is only a few days old in that pic....and his Dad is already scaring the "you know what" out if him!

Freddy is a machine. Of that, there is no doubt.

I think what's so compelling about Deadliest Catch, for most of us anyway, is the fact that anyone of us would do this, if we could. At least I know I would! Being a fishermen at heart, and loving the sea, I would jump at an opportunity to do this. Sadly, I'm now 47 years old, I can't pull start my mower without hurting myself, and I get queasy just watching my kids on a carnival ride!

If I were 21 yrs old again, strong and tough as an ox like I used to be, I'd fly up to Dutch Harbor right now.

I agree McGurk. Junior is a strange guy. I try to like him but he makes it hard. He's constantly talking about wanting to be a legend - the best there ever was. Stop talking about it, go out there and do it. You don't name yourself a legend. People name you.

I thought I saw that Sig is somehow a producer in the show or something, like that he has financially invested in the show, probably why he's on season after season.

I'm under the same impression. I think he was the key connection with the fleet to get the show off the ground and is the Technical Advisor.

Ever since the comment was made the Northwestern was the only one left from season 1, it made me curious to look up the names of the ships that WERE in season 1.

Looks like the Kodiak will be back, with Murray Gamrath as her captain. He was the engineer on the Cornelia Marie, who took over as captain for Phil after his passing. I always liked him.

For me, the season has been good so far but kicking off the opie season tonight has me anticipating next week and the rest of the season in a big way.

Josh is going at getting his Captain's sea legs in a smart way. Hoping for the best for him and his crew. 2 years and Jake still doesn't have it together. Maybe soon...

Curious to see if Mandy actually makes it on the boat for a trip. I doubt it, at least this year but I bet it will happen next year. You don't see her kind of desire for hard work in most 18 year olds these days, least of all from a gals perspective. Pretty cool.

Was a good show last night. They hyped up Mandy a lot, thought she'd be on the boat for the season. I'm sure she'll be there at some point.

I really hope the best for Josh. All the other captains are pulling for him and helping him which is great. I think he's doing it right with having help on board as well.

I've never liked Elliot at all. I can understand a little more on him now with the addiction issues but still don't care for the kid. He just annoys me.

Edgar once again proved how great he is. Fixing the steering on that boat was unbelievable.
