Nils Auger Cover

Recommended Posts

I used Dtro's idea with slight modifications for my Nils convertible auger. My magnets were free and didn't have a through hole.

Roughed up the outside surface of the cover with sandpaper and hot glued 2 rare earth magnets to the outside of the cover. That way there is plastic sandwiched between the magnet and the blade. Otherwise the magnet force would really do a number on my adhesive bond if it was in between.

After one trip out it seems to work just fine. 2 part epoxy may hold better, but I thought I'd try the easy hot melt first.

I kept hearing that, but the cover that came with my hand auger is simple and works good. It's a small thing that just goes over the cutting edges and is held on with a stretchy cord.

Nils makes the worst auger cover in the history of auger covers. I'd take anything over what they come with.

The little guard that came with my 6" hand auger was great, AT FIRST. Then after using for a while it starts to tear and pull apart. Simple, straight forward concept but the plastic they use it too cheap. I just bought 6" Lazer guards and they are great. Coldsnap does not make a cover for the 6".
