slurpie
If you need one a regular strikemaster works also.
aczr2k
Don't buy the strikemaster one, it fits horrible. Cold Snap is by far the best option, they should come with that cover from the factory.
FISHINGURU
Nils makes the worst auger cover in the history of auger covers. I'd take anything over what they come with.
solbes
I used Dtro's idea with slight modifications for my Nils convertible auger. My magnets were free and didn't have a through hole. http://www.hotspotoutdoors.com/forum/ubbthreads.php/topics/3022761/3Roughed up the outside surface of the cover with sandpaper and hot glued 2 rare earth magnets to the outside of the cover. That way there is plastic sandwiched between the magnet and the blade. Otherwise the magnet force would really do a number on my adhesive bond if it was in between. After one trip out it seems to work just fine. 2 part epoxy may hold better, but I thought I'd try the easy hot melt first. Surface Tension
solbes, good idea on putting the magnets on the outside of the cover. The blade won't come in contact with the magnet and dull the blade and Believe Me it happens.

broman
For the brief time I owned a Nils I also used a laser cover on an 8" bit.
Coon
I contacted Cold Snap and they said the strikemaster ones were the same thing, just order it in yellow.
fr0sty
I kept hearing that, but the cover that came with my hand auger is simple and works good. It's a small thing that just goes over the cutting edges and is held on with a stretchy cord.Nils makes the worst auger cover in the history of auger covers. WalleyeVision
Cold Snap is the way to go.... Thanks for the advice! I had been battling the cover for my Nils since I bought it a couple years ago. Just got the new cover 2 weeks ago and it works great. dfeste
The little guard that came with my 6" hand auger was great, AT FIRST. Then after using for a while it starts to tear and pull apart. Simple, straight forward concept but the plastic they use it too cheap. I just bought 6" Lazer guards and they are great. Coldsnap does not make a cover for the 6". dfeste
I've heard good reviews on the Coldsnap covers so if they do end up making one for a 6" Nils I'd order one.
