  1. I'll be getting my feet wet in the same old tamarack swamp I've been hunting for years. It's in the new york mills area. Good luck to everyone!
  2. I've been shooting federal premium trophy copper in my .270 for the past few years. I switched after the blue box federals didn't pass through a 3.5 year old buck at about 60 yards or so. I found the round just under the hide on the far side and only recovered the buck because I smelled him while doing a grid search. I've shot several deer with them and I have no complaints. An added bonus is they shoot just like the blue box ones do in my rifle.
  3. I didn't get one and non of the people I hunted with did either. Same amount of hunter as far as I can tell.
  4. I broke the trigger guard my my t/c omega on the last day of the season. I looked online but can't seem to find anywhere selling that part. Any idea where to get one? I'd rather not buy entire new muzzleloader. It's the silver part in this pic.
  5. Yep, I'll be hunting off an on during the season. Plan on hunting Saturday afternoon.
  6. I love that movie and it's actually part of the reason I was interested in the product to begin with!
  7. This year I'm bringing a meal in a bottle called Soylent. I'm rocking braces this year, so brushing in the stand isn't something I want to do https://www.soylent.com/
  8. I have trail camp pics of some yearlings sparring.
  9. Worst year for buck I've ever had. Just a couple of yearlings. Did catch this fisher though.
  10. I shoot federal premium trophy copper in my .270 They also have that in 30-06 https://www.federalpremium.com/ammunition/rifle/bullet/trophy-copper/vital-shok-trophy-copper/
  11. Only small bucks so far. First one I have in the process of peeling velvet. The date is wrong, btw.
  12. I'm still not sure if I'll go for a fixed or variable scope when I get around to it. Maybe just match the nikon prostaff that's on my .270
  13. Just in case you haven't seen the regs. Curious to know what scopes you all plan to use this season.
  14. That's the reply I received from the dnr today. From: MN_Info (DNR) <[email protected]>Date: Wed, Aug 2, 2017 at 10:17 AMSubject: RE: deer tag question Good Morning Thank you for contacting the Minnesota DNR. Yes, you can take the doe with your primary archery tag in the hunters choice area. Once you take from a hunters choice area you cannot tag any more deer in a hunters choice, lottery or bucks only area. You than can take deer with your firearm or muzzle loader in a managed or intensive harvest areas. In the managed area you could take two deer. Here are a few examples: You could take one deer off your primary firearms license and then during the muzzle loader season take a second deer from the managed area using your primary muzzle loader tag. Or you take a deer with your primary firearms license than purchase a bonus tag(which s doe only) and take the second deer in that area with the firearm bonus tag. Two deer from a managed area. Please feel free to contact us if you have further questions either by email or by calling 888-646-6367 M-F 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. and on Saturday 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Have a great day, To: MN_Info (DNR) <[email protected]> Subject: deer tag question Hi, I hunt several areas/seasons and want to know if I can shoot a doe with my primary archery tag in zone 273 (hunter's choice) but still tag a buck (or doe) in zone 240 (managed) with my firearm or muzzleloader main tag. Not sure if tagging a doe with my primary archery tag stops me from taking a buck with my gun/muzzy tag. Thanks
