No snow on ice?

This is only my second year spearing and my first with no snow on the ice. So my question is does the lack of snow on the ice effect the spearing cause I've been sitting in my hotspot for three days now and haven't seen a fish.

No snow makes spearing real tough. If you get them to come in they tend to be spooked very easy.

It is tough but it can be done and that's when the darker the house inside is the better off you are less chance of shadows and movement being cast down the hole.

I have hauled snow out on the ice before just to bank the house but right now there is no snow on shore to do that with.

I would skip it or go somewhere else with snow. Chasing flags can be fun though in these conditions if you can stay on your feet!

Gotta admit I hate not having at least a couple inches on the ice to help block out the shadows

I had 3 come in today and they were not spooky at all. They just eased up to the fake decoy ignoring my live and took a nibble then slowly swam away.

Got out for the first time today and saw several fish, and it makes it much easier early season without snow. Easy to pull the sled, and I had no problem with the fish being spooky. But I have seen spooky fish with these conditions in the past. Maybe you just need to move spots until the snow comes.

The ice around here thawed alittle yesterday and looks cloudy on top now. wish I could get out.

Just put house out on 8+" of clear solid ice in the Brainerd lakes area. Water looked a little cloudy but ok for 11fow.

Glad I went out yesterday I had 1" of water already on top of ice and still flooding so I plowed snow away from house so it can freeze. I'm already two blocks under my house
