Jim Uran
Whether it's new product, a new location, or a new technique you are wanting to try out this upcoming ice season, what is it that you are looking forward to?I'm actually looking forward to targeting walleyes a little more... Something I haven't done too much over the last 5 years.. and looking forward to fishing some different inline reels.
givetoget
Same here Jim, Targeting Eyes. At the very end of the last season I think I figured a few things out on a new body of water I tried here in Wis. We will see if it holds into this year. Bring on the Ice. CANOPY SAM
I'm looking forward to winter, but hope it's snowy earlier in the year, and not so bitterly cold this year. Our whole family is really starting to enjoy snowmobiles, and I'm hoping we can take some family vacations running the trails in the Chippewa Nat'l Forest. Also look forward to ice-fishing with my kids, and friends whenever time allows.I can happily endure 4-5 months of winter as long as we've got plenty of snow, and the temps stay around 15-25 degrees. Not looking forward to weeks and weeks of subzero temps. Those really cold days make winter tough.
dairyman
I found a place that really gave up some "really nice" crappies that I intend to fish more often.I do pretty much "cpr"on the crappies,I just enjoy catching them. That and try to be more timely on the "Tullibe" bite, I got in on the tail end of the bite last year

dan z
I'm really excited about my new 1 man JM portable. I'll be able to be more mobile and hopefully I stay mobile if not on fish. I hope to put a little time in on walleyes as I learned a great deal on how to put them on the ice last year. I hope the January "thaw" activates the northerns like last year. As always I will be putting most time on panfish.
JeremyCampbell
Sounds like ppl are thinking walleye for this new upcoming winter.I'm going to enjoy useing a new gas auger and vexilar.I want to get a few more miles away from small panfish ville and hook into lakes just a little further away for some larger crappie.I hope to nab a 14" crappie this winter and go for catfish under the ice.Lots of new territory to cover and you bet I will be reporting (bragging) lol what kinds of tactics and fish details come out of my Many days with the sled. Rippinlip
Just more time on the hard water, every year I plan to icefish more and it ends up being less.Spending a few days again with Paul at Sunset Bay, chasing anything that will bite. Rikkus
I am looking forward to the next annual ice fishing trip with my fishing buddy of more than 40 years. This year's trip we are going back to the basics, Portables. We bought a Clam 5600, and 2 6800's along with the Trap Link adapters for hooking them up.This next season's trip we're looking to mix it up. A couple days on Red, and 4-days in the Winnie Area. We'll targeting Walleye's, Crappie, Perch & Tulipe. Most of, a break away from the daily grind. I love the 'No Internet'; and, bad cell phone service. (At least that's what I tell the folks at work.)Someone should start a post on 'The Favorite Jig or Rig for _______' After re-stringing a couple rods yesterday, I was thinking about last year's ice fishing. Last year I got so out-fished by my 3 buddies. I was using Slick Jigs, Rattin' Flyers, anything I could think. Mean while, my buddies were using plain red hooks; and were just nailing the fish. Single & treble hooks, plain red hooks, dead sticks & jigging. It didn't matter if they were 50' away, or in the same house. I just couldn't come close to the numbers they caught. So, for this next season, I started lightening my Line for presentation. I tied on 4 lb, 2-1/2 leaders. And I am chucking the swivel-snaps. The jigs will be tied. For Perch, one rod with a perch-eye jig, the second with my favorite 3-bead Gold Jig.I am still thinking about what to do for the Walleye. silverbulletguy
More time with my little guy on the ice. Any tug on his line is a win for me.
Rick G
Going to pry myself away from the winter cats a little more to chase panfish again. Finally going to make the switch to the in-line reels from my spinning set ups for shallow water. Also looking forward to getting my hands on one of the Clam conversion kits to turn my Milwaukee drill into an auger, this will be great for first ice
WalleyeChaser
More time with my little guy on the ice. Any tug on his line is a win for me. x2!I picked up a 2-up sled that will get me out on my hotspots sooner! And hopefully get in some trail time. I also rigged up my Humminbird 797 to use as my gps and I might try to rig it for jiggin also. Picked up a hub house as well to keep me a little more portable, than the 3 man flip, on the walk on only lakes and for early, early ice. I'm counting the days! Jim Uran
Rick G, don't limit them to only shallow water use. I fished them every which way last year and never picked up a spinning reel unless I was ripping darters for crappies! They are a lot of fun to use even in deep water. Stick in Mud
I am exceedingly lazy when it comes to ice fishing. I can't wait to get the perm on the ice, the holes drilled, the heater on, a beer open, a good book in my lap, and hopefully a rattle reel or two.
