V2 I-Pilot owners, do you miss the foot pedal?

Terrova is hands down worth it, I'm one who needs the use of the pedal and also needs my remote I couldnt effectivly fish with just the remote... Then again all depnds what you fish for and how you fish, I'm a caster and not always a free hand to work the remote, but when trolling night eyes I almost excusivly run the remote... Stow and deploy are better on the Terrova also...

I have only ever had the v2 with the I pilot(factory installed) so I can't say for sure if I would miss the foot pedal or not. even thou you don't like the terrova I really suggest you look at it. the extra money for a terrova with the I pilot is basically for the foot pedal. plus the terrova now can be bought with the new I pilot link installed in it(if this is something you might add later). If you have a V2 power drive now I would sell it and buy a new terrova. the other plus of the terrova is that the stow and deploy is easier then the V2's. just something to think about. It's a personal choice for you to make but make sure to look at them both side by side. personally my next trolling motor will be the terrova with the I pilot Link factory installed in it.

I'm really not interested in the Terrova. I'm already having a hard time justifying upgrading from my PD 55 auto pilot co-pilot motor. Most of the time it works just fine and since I haven't used the foot pedal for the last two years, perhaps I have answered my own question.

Features I like about the I-pilot are spot lock, tracks, and constant speed regardless of wind. I will never be able to justify the link setup. I just don't fish enough, nor do I want to put that much money into it.

Depends on how I fish. When walleye fishing, dragging stuff on the bottom, I don't miss it at all.

If casting, it can be a pain to cast, reel, and run the remote. I need a third hand in that situation.

I love the i-Pilot but I NEED my foot pedal. Foot pedal gets used at least 80% of the time. I could never be without one. I would give up the i-Pilot before I gave up the foot pedal, but I do a lot of casting .....

But since you said you haven't used your foot pedal in the last 2 years, I'm guessing that you'll be just fine without it ......

I have the Terrova too and have only used the foot pedal once in three seasons. Even when casting I can set a course and speed and lock it in, so no need to even use the remote that much Just small corrections now and then, but it's not a hassle. Never been a problem.

The only caveat would be...if for some reason the remote went out on you, it would be nice to have the pedal as a back-up.

Always have a spare battery for the I-pilot remote, and with the link system there is no need for a battery since its a rechargeable lithium battery in the remote but have a power source to charge while on the water if needed

I recently changed from the V2 autopilot 55 lbs of thrust to the V2 I-Pilot with 70 pounds of thrust. I just couldn't see spending the money to get the Terrova as I will not be using a depthfinder in conjunction with the trolling motor. I am still learning all of the capabilities of the motor and the remote. So far I really like the new Minnkota. I hang the remote on my belt and it does not seem to interfere with the way I fish which is casting and trolling. I DO NOT MISS THE FOOT PEDAL!!!

The stow and deploy of the motor takes getting used to. I don't have issues stowing the motor but once in a while it takes an extra push to get the motor deployed. I don't see this as much of a problem.

The spot lock feature is great!! I haven't recorded a track yet because at this point I haven't needed to but then again I am still learing about this motor. I very seldom used the cruise on the 55 PD.

Batteries for the remote can be purchased at just about any electronics store such as RS for $4-6.

First year with the I-Pilot. Fish Bass 90% of the time. Like the spot lock but need to figure it out a little more. But I did kind of miss the foot pedal. Adjustments and casting at the same time are a pain. I know you lose some functions by going to the foot pedal, but do you lose spot lock when you go to the foot pedal? Seriously thinking about getting a foot pedal.

Had a PD with Copilot/auto Pilot and went to v2-I pilot 2 seasons ago... get Ipilot and accept no sustitutes. The stow and go is worse on my v2 vs the terrova but the i pilot is killer! I cannot believe how much it helps and I don't even fully use everything it can do! Do I miss the footpad? YEah I guess it would be nice but it all depends on how you use the motor and the kind of fishing you do. I don't need/miss it.

The foot peddle is only available on the Terrova with iPilot. The foot peddle will not work on the PD2 with iPilot.

I have a plug for a foot pedal. Did you mean that I would only lose I-pilot features, or that a foot pedal will not function at all?

    • By The way that didn't work either!! Screw it I'll just use the cellular.
    • It’s done automatically.  You might need an actual person to clear that log in stuff up.   Trash your laptop history if you haven’t tried that already.
    • 😂 yea pretty amazing how b o o b i e s gets flagged, but they can't respond or tell me why I  can't get logged in here on my laptop but I can on my cellular  😪
    • I grilled some brats yesterday, maybe next weekend will the next round...
    • You got word censored cuz you said        B o o b ies….. haha.   Yeah, no… grilling is on hiatus for a bit.
    • Chicken mine,  melded in Mccormick poultry seasoning for 24 hours.  Grill will get a break till the frigid temps go away!
    • we had some nice weather yesterday and this conundrum was driving me crazy  so I drove up to the house to take another look. I got a bunch of goodies via ups yesterday (cables,  winch ratchet parts, handles, leaf springs etc).   I wanted to make sure the new leaf springs I got fit. I got everything laid out and ready to go. Will be busy this weekend with kids stuff and too cold to fish anyway, but I will try to get back up there again next weekend and get it done. I don't think it will be bad once I get it lifted up.    For anyone in the google verse, the leaf springs are 4 leafs and measure 25 1/4" eye  to eye per Yetti. I didnt want to pay their markup so just got something else comparable rated for the same weight.   I am a first time wheel house owner, this is all new to me. My house didn't come with any handles for the rear cables? I was told this week by someone in the industry that cordless drills do not have enough brake to lower it slow enough and it can damage the cables and the ratchets in the winches.  I put on a handle last night and it is 100% better than using a drill, unfortatenly I found out the hard way lol and will only use the ICNutz to raise the house now.
    • I haven’t done any leaf springs for a long time and I can’t completely see the connections in your pics BUT I I’d be rounding up: PB Blaster, torch, 3 lb hammer, chisel, cut off tool, breaker bar, Jack stands or blocks.   This kind of stuff usually isn’t the easiest.   I would think you would be able to get at what you need by keeping the house up with Jack stands and getting the pressure off that suspension, then attack the hardware.  But again, I don’t feel like I can see everything going on there.
    • reviving an old thread due to running into the same issue with the same year of house. not expecting anything from yetti and I already have replacement parts ordered and on the way.   I am looking for some input or feedback on how to replace the leaf springs themselves.    If I jack the house up and remove the tire, is it possible to pivot the axel assembly low enough to get to the other end of the leaf spring and remove that one bolt?   Or do I have to remove the entire pivot arm to get to it? Then I also have to factor in brake wire as well then. What a mess   My house is currently an hour away from my home at a relatives, going to go back up and look it over again and try to figure out a game plan.           Above pic is with house lowered on ice, the other end of that leaf is what I need to get to.   above pic is side that middle bolt broke and bottom 2 leafs fell out here is other side that didnt break but you can see bottom half of leaf already did but atleast bolt is still in there here is hub assembly in my garage with house lowered and tires off when I put new tires on it a couple months ago. hopefully I can raise house high enough that it can drop down far enough and not snap brake cable there so I can get to that other end of the leaf spring.
