Camping with CPAP

Bring an extra tent and sleep by your self. Avoid caffeine after supper, and limit alcohol intake. No way you an bring enough power to operate a CPAP machine in the BWCA. Unless you carry several deep cycles with you, and your machine runs on 12 volts.

Yeah you can just run an inverter off of a boat/vehicle or portable battery if you're not remote. A few months ago I remember and ad in MN outdoor news that had a small battery pack/solar charger thingy for CPAPs but I don't recall if it was an add on or a whole new unit- I'm sure it's not cheap either way.

you can purchase a 12v adapter for it, I put a outlet in permy for, works good, will not work with vaporizer though, my machine splits in 1/2 so I can run without vaporizer, will pretty much drain a deep cycle battery in 1 nite though. But it works and allows for more fishing time. good luck

Deep cycle battery with an inverter just large enough to power the CPAP. The bigger the inverter the more overhead and will drain the battery quicker. Test it at home to see how long it run on a charge to see if you may need more than one battery the the length of your camping trip.

This year at Many Point Scout Camp we ran 2 CPAPs off a size 27 deep cycle battery using a 750w inverter. My cpap is a Resmed S9 with a humidifier and it will run the humidifier off the inverter too. We got 2 nights with power to spare as well as charging phones durin that time. Look up your cpap model on the manufacturers web page- they likely have info on running on an inverter. Some require a pure sine wave inverter which are more $$. Luckily mine and the other guys ran just fine off a cheaper modified sine wave inverter.

My fishing buddy has a C-Pap and we camp in remote areas. He uses an inverter and 12 v 2700 deep cycle battery. Battery will last about about 2 nights. He also uses his vaporizer.

The suggested tent idea isn't a bad idea. When we are using his camper I bring my tent and cot so he can rattle the walls all he wants.

I have run a Cpap of a deep cycle marine battery for many years. Get a decenter inverter. Fill the humidifier reservior with water but turn off the heater. Let the air flow over the unheated water. You get some moisture but you dont kill your bateery. Doing this you will get 3-5 nights on the battery. You are a little dry in the morning but not too bad. I have portaged my deep cell into The BWCA. It is worth it in both my opinion and my tent mates opinion.

I'm sure you tent mates are grateful . After spending many sleepless nights in a tent, camper or motel room with my fishing buddy snoring, grunting and gasping for air, I finally told him to do something about his apnea before it killed him. Fortunately for him health-wise he was receptive to the idea. After he got that CPAP I could finally get some sleep. I would carry a battery into the BWCA for him if it were a choice between Cpap or no Cpap.

    • got this tackled today took about 3 hours to get both sides done. Didnt even get to use a torch....   Thought I was golden with just jacking it up and I could get to everything but no luck. Had to remove the entire axle hub and brake assembly to get to what I needed. Was a pain but still better then taking off the entire pivot arm.    Axle bearings were already greased and in great shape thankfully. Got both leaf springs installed and its ready for the road again.   Probably going to have my electric brakes checked, I am not touching anything with the brake drums. Based on what I saw it doesn't look like my electric brakes have been working anyway. Brakes are nice to have if its slippery out
    • By The way that didn't work either!! Screw it I'll just use the cellular.
    • It’s done automatically.  You might need an actual person to clear that log in stuff up.   Trash your laptop history if you haven’t tried that already.
    • 😂 yea pretty amazing how b o o b i e s gets flagged, but they can't respond or tell me why I  can't get logged in here on my laptop but I can on my cellular  😪
    • I grilled some brats yesterday, maybe next weekend will the next round...
    • You got word censored cuz you said        B o o b ies….. haha.   Yeah, no… grilling is on hiatus for a bit.
    • Chicken mine,  melded in Mccormick poultry seasoning for 24 hours.  Grill will get a break till the frigid temps go away!
    • we had some nice weather yesterday and this conundrum was driving me crazy  so I drove up to the house to take another look. I got a bunch of goodies via ups yesterday (cables,  winch ratchet parts, handles, leaf springs etc).   I wanted to make sure the new leaf springs I got fit. I got everything laid out and ready to go. Will be busy this weekend with kids stuff and too cold to fish anyway, but I will try to get back up there again next weekend and get it done. I don't think it will be bad once I get it lifted up.    For anyone in the google verse, the leaf springs are 4 leafs and measure 25 1/4" eye  to eye per Yetti. I didnt want to pay their markup so just got something else comparable rated for the same weight.   I am a first time wheel house owner, this is all new to me. My house didn't come with any handles for the rear cables? I was told this week by someone in the industry that cordless drills do not have enough brake to lower it slow enough and it can damage the cables and the ratchets in the winches.  I put on a handle last night and it is 100% better than using a drill, unfortatenly I found out the hard way lol and will only use the ICNutz to raise the house now.
