Sure. Easiest way is to add clips to a lighter socket, clip it to the battery, and plug in a "car charger" for the phone. If you want to get fancy, put the battery in a box and mount the socket in the box.

You can install a cig lighter plug/12 volt plug in your boat or even get one to clip to any 12 V battery. I have one clipped to my starting battery that gets charged by the engine to run lights etc. You can find 12V plugs at auto parts stores, radio shack or Wallys

Otherwise you can buy portable batteries online anywhere from $10-50. They're just battery packs with a USB plug in that charge phones anywhere from 50%-half a dozen times. Just figure out what size your battery is and buy accordingly. You just plug em in on land and charge it, then just charge your phone wherever you want.

Those babies are slick!

I bought one last year so I could read a book on my phone or (play on the HSO blush ) while deer hunting dark to dark.

But I find myself using it all the time when power is hard to come by: camping, airports, plane rides, etc.

It will charge anything that uses a usb port (tablet, ipod, phone, etc)

If you have a phone with a replaceable battery I would just suggest buying a couple extra cheap batteries on the online auction site.

On my last phone, I think I bought 2 batteries and a charger for like 10 bucks.

I can't get at the battery on my new phone

I just saw an advertisement for a USB portable flash charger. It is a small battery that looked like it was the length of a cell phone. 2600 mAh, enough juice for 2-3 full charges and fully rechargeable with USB access. Also compatible with any device

Yep, just hook it to the vex battery and you are good. You can charge your phone many times off that little bugger smile

yep this is what I do on duck hunting trips and the vex battery lasts well over the weekend. It also really comes in handy when I'm using the GPS on my phone when cruzin in the boat.

I say throw the phone in the glove box of the truck and go enjoy the fishing - thats what I do. I get chased by the dam phone all day at work and I go fishing to relax and get away from the rat race.

Instant solution to a lot of non-problems. They'll wait until you get back home.

thx again for all the ideas & suggestions

I take my iphone for navionics app and capturing good times of the kids (would have hated myself if I missed last year when my 6 year old caught his first LM bass (14") on kiddie rod, bobber, 4lb test, & crawler)panfishing, he talked bout it for a month. also like the weather apps and recording pictures & videos. that's bout it unless wife texts to see if all is ok, otherwise it just sits there. but I do like the peace of mind for navionics, weather, & memories. I don't think I can live without those, I know I could but why? specially if the mrs. is checking in to see if no one fell in, the more she checks in, the more I can go out!

The clip and socket is your cheapest option.

I just ordered a new stereo with USB so I can charge and listen to music at the same time.

Fried my current stereo last fall listening to a viking game while cleaning the boat before going off to storage. Who knew a marine radio wasn't water resistant.

    • got this tackled today took about 3 hours to get both sides done. Didnt even get to use a torch....   Thought I was golden with just jacking it up and I could get to everything but no luck. Had to remove the entire axle hub and brake assembly to get to what I needed. Was a pain but still better then taking off the entire pivot arm.    Axle bearings were already greased and in great shape thankfully. Got both leaf springs installed and its ready for the road again.   Probably going to have my electric brakes checked, I am not touching anything with the brake drums. Based on what I saw it doesn't look like my electric brakes have been working anyway. Brakes are nice to have if its slippery out
    • By The way that didn't work either!! Screw it I'll just use the cellular.
    • It’s done automatically.  You might need an actual person to clear that log in stuff up.   Trash your laptop history if you haven’t tried that already.
    • 😂 yea pretty amazing how b o o b i e s gets flagged, but they can't respond or tell me why I  can't get logged in here on my laptop but I can on my cellular  😪
    • I grilled some brats yesterday, maybe next weekend will the next round...
    • You got word censored cuz you said        B o o b ies….. haha.   Yeah, no… grilling is on hiatus for a bit.
    • Chicken mine,  melded in Mccormick poultry seasoning for 24 hours.  Grill will get a break till the frigid temps go away!
    • we had some nice weather yesterday and this conundrum was driving me crazy  so I drove up to the house to take another look. I got a bunch of goodies via ups yesterday (cables,  winch ratchet parts, handles, leaf springs etc).   I wanted to make sure the new leaf springs I got fit. I got everything laid out and ready to go. Will be busy this weekend with kids stuff and too cold to fish anyway, but I will try to get back up there again next weekend and get it done. I don't think it will be bad once I get it lifted up.    For anyone in the google verse, the leaf springs are 4 leafs and measure 25 1/4" eye  to eye per Yetti. I didnt want to pay their markup so just got something else comparable rated for the same weight.   I am a first time wheel house owner, this is all new to me. My house didn't come with any handles for the rear cables? I was told this week by someone in the industry that cordless drills do not have enough brake to lower it slow enough and it can damage the cables and the ratchets in the winches.  I put on a handle last night and it is 100% better than using a drill, unfortatenly I found out the hard way lol and will only use the ICNutz to raise the house now.
