Thanks folks!

The first image was in color, but there was very little color in it, and it delivers a statement of pattern and contrast. That made it the perfect candidate for B&W.

Capture is only half the photograph with digital. Developing is the other half. That's why I don't post comparison images straight out of the camera. How I envision art and what the camera sees are sometimes quite different, as opposed to documentary/photojournalism.

Fantastic shots, I'm jealous - no wolves around here, almost none in the entire state.

How often do you see them? Can you more or less find them anytime you go out to photograph them or is it a rare siting?

It's very uncommon to be able to photograph wolves unless you spend a ton of time out in the woods. Even then, encounters are infrequent, and situations in which you can get keeper photographs are even more rare. Mostly you see tails and butts going the other way. smile

The wolf in images No. 2 and 3 is nearly the same in appearance as a young male wolf I shot about 3 miles away in 2006. Same cinnamon in the pelt, same shape of head/ears, same tail. If it's not the same animal, the genetics have gotten successfully passed down.

Here's the wolf from 2006.

The wolfscape in number four is awesome.

Wolf photography workshop...can you post a link to info on the next one?

How many wolves did you encounter on the workshop? Cost?

Thanks for any feedback, and very nice images of wild wolves.
