Another happy customer of vexilar/motor clinic

Recommended Posts

I went into Vexilar/motorclinic this morning. I set my fl22 on the counter and service person says "Don't even tell me whats wrong, I already know."

He tested my tri-beam transducer (bad) gave me a choice of new tri-beam or the new ProView transducer. I chose the ProView transducer.

I was out the door in 5 minutes with a new transducer installed and a towel at no charge.

This is the third time in 13 years I have brought a vexilar in for some sort of work and yet have to leave there with paying a dime.

That is great to hear. I'm on my second Vex and have never needed to have them serviced. Good to know it's there if needed! wink

Gotta love that kind of service. I have an old FL-8slt and a FL-18 and they have been pretty bulletproof over the years. Nice to know if you need service that you can expect a quick turn around.

You will love the Pro View.Small learning curve but once you get it down, WOW!!!. Hardest part is learning how to use the gain.Got mine the same way, went down to Vexilar with a bad tri-beam on my FL18.Ended up walking out with a FL-22 and the Pro View. Best thing I ever did.

What was happening with the ducer? My buddy has a FL-20 with tri-beam ducer and he says it is goofy sometime. I wonder if his issue is the same.

For the most part, the vexilar would only mark jig/fish on the 9 degree setting. You could mark on 12 and 20 degree setting only if you turned gain on real high; which distorted eerything.

That sounds kind of like what his was doing. His also get real loud once in a while. Is that a transducer issue? His is newer than mine but alot louder and has more junk on his screen than mine. Where did you take it to to get it replaced?

Don't worry, I'm sure your friends unit is fine. These Vex units are bulletproof.

Let us know how you like the pro-view. I keep using the low power in 20' or less. Unreal the detail you see once you get the experience of using it in the low power setting.

Are you telling me that they just exchange your ducer? I have bought three over the last 12 years at 90$ a piece! I suppose this is in the TC? I think my cord eventually breaks from dumping it in a thousand holes a year eek

They are great with trolling motors as well as Vexi's. I've been there a few times and it's all been my fault for whatever getting fixed since I like to hit rocks and drive over my vexi.

Do you happen to know what time they open? I will be down in that area working next week and have the same issues with my tri beam, when I called they said to mail it in, but since I will be in the area I will bring it to theme.

Yes they stand behind their transducers if they fail. They do not or do I expect them to replace a transducer that I damaged.

I also have bought 2 new transducers from them in the past because a chord was wore out from rubbing.

I just got me a 22 with the tri beam. Waiting for some ice to try it out. There has to be more than a couple of these tri beams out there that work isn't there?? Makes me a little nervous.

    • Probably something like electric cars that was never going to happen!  Only the future will know.
    • scary interesting...
    • Article on WSJ.com today about a European clean meat startup getting nearly $9 million in funding from Merck. With big pharma in the game, is there really any doubt it will be on store shelves soon? The cattle and pork industry better come up with a "pink slime" type of name for this, or they can kiss their herds goodbye. • sorry, quoted wrong post.   If one quotes a quote, the system messes up the attribution
    • Water that doesn't come out of a plastic bottle.
    • That's YOUR opinion.    Just remember, everything is fine, in moderation.
    • I do it, have experience with both homers and shooters. I am not a die hard as I was a few years ago but will get back into more when I get a new pup here in the near future.   The birds are not to bad to care for just need food and water. My experience and most troubles have been trying to keep critters out of the pigeon loft. Mink etc like to wreak havoc and it sucks when you lose all your birds to a stupid rodent. Especially the homers after you put in all the work to get them coming back. I haven't had any issues keeping birds at home by the dogs. Best part with the homers is if I train away from home, most times the birds are back home in the loft before I get back lol.   As for working the dog, you probably want to invest in a bird launcher as well especially since your dogs a pointer. Not sure how steady your dog will be or what kind of prey drive it will have. Hopefully you letting it chase birds already didnt cause any issues. I would just slowly introduce them to the pigeons. Might even start with just clipping some flight feathers and throw it in an open area and see how your dog reacts and go from there.   It should point naturally but just use the launcher to steady the dog up. Just look up methods with a check cord etc. when using the launcher. If you want them steady to flush or steady to shot that's up to you but that's way down the road yet. Some of that  pointing should come natural but with this dog being a little older you never know what your gonna get but never too late to start either I guess.    good luck
    • Maybe, We have some of that disease in the family. I'm of the opinion that if you are diabetic the kind of beer you should drink is NO BEER.
