I would hunt, worth a shot. Exspecaily if you have been seeing deer feeding there already. Maybe get some heavy duty tent stakes to stake down the blind with and tie it off also. Like you say you can't get them from the couch grin.

Boar, you and Halle arent going to get anything sitting on the couch! I have seen so many times the weather forcast changes quickly and is wrong. Changes hourly.. Have to do what ya have to do to put one in the freezer.. Good luck Halle and of course you to Boar.

I wouldn't burn out your daughter on hunting in terrible conditions...Unless you think she'll do just fine. Then go for it. Can't tell ya if the pop up blind will still be there or not, but you'll probably need to be pretty sheltered for that thing to stay up - i'm guessing.

Good Luck!!!

A lot of times the wind doesnt pick up until later mornings, and tends to mellow out prior to getting dark. I would hunt it, but only hunt until you guys get sick of sitting, dont force yourself to sit. Hunting should be fun, and sitting for long periods in bad conditions is a good way to burn out young hunters.

I would go for prime times, and maybe a little walk through the woods during mid days. Then have some quality time at a mall, or out to eat or something.

Ask her if she wants to hunt. If she says yes then hunt, if she says no then don't hunt.

If the conditions are really bad let her make the call on when its time to go in. If she continues to hunt in the future she'll need to start making those decisions for herself so why not start now while you're along for guidance.

The whole state is not in a youth hunt.

The following deer areas are open October 20-23 for taking either sex deer by firearms for youth 10-15 years old at the time of the hunt.

Participant numbers are not limited and there is no special permit.

101, 105, 111, 114, 201, 203, 208, 209, 256, 257, 260, 263, 264, 267,

268, 338, 339, 341, 342, 343, 344, 345, 346, 347, 348, 349, 601, and

602.

The following regulations apply to this hunt:

•An adult parent/guardian/mentor aged 18 or older must accompany

the youth hunter at all times during the hunt.

•The blaze orange requirements apply to all hunters and trappers and all adult mentors of youth hunters in areas open to youth firearm deer hunting during this season.

• The accompanying adult cannot hunt and party hunting is not

allowed (youth must tag their own deer).

•Participating youth 12 years of age and older must have a firearm safety certificate or apprentice hunter validation. Participating youth must possess a valid firearm deer license. Youth age 10 and 11 must possess a free license.

• The bag limit is one deer. In lottery areas, youth hunters must use

their regular license. In managed or intensive areas, they may use their

regular license or 1 bonus permit if they take an antlerless deer.

•If the youth harvests a buck, the deer must be tagged with their regular license.

•Participation in the youth season does not affect eligibility to participate in the regular deer season; however, the harvested deer counts against the annual bag limit for that area.

Youth Hunting Licenses Reduced price individual youth licenses

are available for residents and nonresidents under age 18 for firearms

deer, archery deer, muzzleloader deer, and small game (see page 10).

The individual youth firearms license is valid during the Statewide (A) and Late Southeast (B) season but not the Muzzleloader Season.

I don't have kids, so my advice hardly matters, but I would be worried about turning the kids off to hunting if you think it's gonna be miserable. I'd have them get used to not being successful every time before I compounded it with miserable conditions.

Ha you just want my pbj sandwhiches, if your zone was open id make ya few an take ya up on it. I hope its not as bad as predicted, were gona sit, the bean feild hasent been chisle plowed yet, so even with the wind i think they'll feed, the part of the feild were hunting is about an acre notched out from the rest of the feild an pretty protected from the NW wind slightly so with the feed I think they'll move in it. friday is as badly predicted so that will be a go for sure. Sunday after noon would be the last chance to sit for the youth if not theres rifle an muzzy so theres time. Thanks for crak'n the whip guys.

no prob trig,

Well, heres wat we found, Halle came home from school tuesday with a baby, so i was a G-pa for a nite, You know those baby simulaters, ment to teach teens to at leaste practice safe sex, well that thing was up 11 times for here an she was exhausted an i didnt push her out the door thurs morning til about nine. It was a reall nice over cast morning cool but no rain an no wind, bummer. shoulda been in the river crossing stand. no biggie. Its her hunt. So wel walk to our blind an litte ameristeop dogouse, get set up an within a half an hour it starts to rain lightly, just then a fawn comes bolting outof the woods folloewd buy her mom straight at us, an then dissapear in the corner to our right at about 50 yards the another fawn camout looking formom an ran staight towrds us an dissapeard to our right, fawns feeling a little frisky, think they got spanked pretty hard.then the rain picked up an the wind began to blow a little.

An hour later another doe an two fawns came out of the same spot an just sarted mill around an eat, after about 10 minuets they got to the east of us an caught our scent an took off. Both does were young does. Then another deer came running into the woods from the east about 200yrds out an half an hour later. an then two more did the same thing an hour later. after that the wind an rain really started to pik up specially the wind, but we had our blind to the south end of the woods an were nicley protected, Just a tip for pop users, if you take an extendable pole an an really push up the pop up in a T-pee fashion the rain will just run off nicely, about an inch of rain fell thru the day an we were nice an dry. Halle burnt stick on the Mr. heater an put on war paint with the charcoal, what a warrior. Just then Halle hear something, "Wats that" then I heard it an peeked to our left an a nice big mature doe caught our scent an bolted, crud thats wat she was looking for.

ANyway she took it till the end, we stayed high an dry an had fun burning stuff, takling an have a great time. All said an done we had seen 18 deer an two grouse that sat directly infront of us at 10 ft an picked beans. cool. two of the 18 were the only mature ones, at last light an lrge doe an tripplets showed but went back in. It was a great hunt an halle said it was awsome! We have to head to the cabin an shut down the place for the winter,so we'll be hunting sunday afternoon, if notheing then ints rifle an muzzy, she'll get one. Thanks guys.

Get out there! I'm sure the deer will still be in the woods. I think a decent option given the "predicted" weather conditions would be to stalk hunt. The wind will cover your movement, noise, and even scent if its in your favor. As mentioned earlier, you are guaranteed NOT to get a deer if you stay home.

Good luck! Post the pics of your deer !
