Can you give some more details? When are you finding this? How long in between shutting it down are you checking? Do you have a charging system on the boat that you plug in when you get home? It mite be giving it a little power hit and turning it back on? I don't think it is turning it's self on, some thing in your shut down process is not working? You maybe shutting it off at the unit but it still has power going to it at the plug in or something is sending power back to it? confused

I do have an on board charger but this is after I have charged the batteries and unplug. It comes on flashing sometime after that. If I had left it long enough it takes the starting battery down to nothing.

Well if you don't have kids playing in the boat pushing buttons then something is sending power back to it and turning it on? I have a GPS that will power on at the button on top of it our by it's self right when it is pluged into a power source. Something like that is happening. wink

This same thing happened to my 332C mid summer several years ago. I called Lowarance, they had me send it in after I put my boat into storage in the fall. They said the main board was bad, and replaced the whole unit, even after the warranty had expired.

Another problem this causes is while the unit is sitting in the garage for god knows how long flashing and beeping, it will also burn out the transducer ( which they also replaced for free).

On a positive note, if your transducer is not already shot, just add a battery disconnect switch, and the unit will probably work just fine until you decide what you want to do with it.

Thanks for the replies. Sending it in to Lowrance could be the answer in the fall. Haven't checked their HSOforum yet for a place to send it. I would imagine that is where I would find some information for sending it in. Have been unplugging but that is a pain.

backlash 1, this is exactly what happened to mine a few years ago. They had a big problem according to (at the time) Linda in customer service with the boards they were using. I sent mine in as you did in the fall and they sent me a new unit out. For me it was the only time Lowrance ever did me any favors.

Keep in mind that if your cranking battery is bad/weak, then low voltage will turn off the unit. If your starting your boat, and your lowrance turns off, then you need to replace the cranking battery. also, the lowance.net connection draws a small amount of power even during storage. you should have the second power connection to some type of breaker or on/off switch in your control panel to prevent battery drain when your not using your boat. Lastly the cheap buttons can get stuck, causing intermittent shutdown. check out those first before you RMA your unit.

I would be interested to hear what they do for you, since I have one of those units. I had presumed that at this time it is old enough that if anything goes wrong it is scrap. Until then I will buy new transducer periodically to keep it happy.

My guess since the unit has been discontinued for over 3 years, they will offer you some kind of deal like $50 to $100 off on a new unit. Unless you have some kind of documentation the problem started within the warranty period, then you might get a refurbished unit.

Same thing happened to my X102C, then eventually it would turn on and rapidly cycle through the back-lighting options. It made it unusable. Lowrance was no help to me, hopefully they help you out...

I also replaced two transducers in two years with it, needless to say I replaced it with a Humminbird, so far so good...

This is typical for these units. Happened to both my units. I had a 332C and 102C. Both had the same problems. Lowrance offered only a small discount towards new. Defective design and units that they don't want to stand behind. Buy another brand.

on my 332c it was actually the power button sticking and not allowing the power button to fully disengage. I took a needle and pushed it into the button at a little angle and pulled it back out. hasn't happened since.

I will try the needle trick because as noted Lowrance said the unit is out of production and they do not have any parts to fix. They would give me a certificate for $100 off on new unit.

We see the same thing with Eagle 642c's. We are either going to try to get $100 each for them and replace with one new one, or if we don't get that, will be moving to bird. Have had Lowrance or eagle since way back in the green box days, but the past few units have had us looking elsewhere. The new Lowrance sure look nice, but... we shall see.

tonkapat, I tried your needle trick and it worked. I used a bobby pin but I ended up prying the power button out of the socket it fits in. Long story short I lost the power button and ended up taking the waypoint button out its socket and putting it in the power slot. Works great but it is loose. Is it possible to just get a power button?
