Ozzie, i kinda understand but I kinda don't . when I opened the Sunday paper He is risen was written on a few pages , I think I saw it on the news and I believe it is the title of the Thread , not the forum but the thread. You do not have to watch the news read the paper or read every post. Especially if you do not like the title.

People wear their religion on their shirt sleeves for many reasons. But mostly to find common ground or give others the opportunity to approach them if they are so inclined. No one ment offense.

Just a thought to put this in it's proper context...

We all seem to have this in common - that we LOVE the outdoors; hunting and fishing thrill us. What the nonbeliever needs to keep in mind is a respect for the believers point of view - which is this:

That anything that has every thrilled us - be it an encounter with a wild beast, harvesting a deer, or releasing a giant fish - all of this is made possible because of God. And when a "believing man" is truly grateful for such a thing, he cannot keep it in.

Hence such subjects will get spilled over into the "open water forum" on an Easter Sunday. Nobody is pushing anything on anybody else. Just sharing in the joy of life, and in the comradery and fellowship of the outdoors and what we hold dear - which is what this site is all about.

I don't care where it winds up, but if this site ever bans talking about God, I'm out! There's lots of touchy subjects posted on here. We can choose to "walk away" and be non reactive if we don't agree. We can be respectful of one another, whether we hold the same beliefs and values, or not.

I've often thought there should be a "page" on here for the Christian outdoorsman - a place for people of faith to share their perspectives. There is for everything else - so why not? Kudos to the people who had the idea and the courage to post this. Yeah, it's what Easter is all about!

Well said Tim, thank you. And no disrespect toward anyone who chooses to believe otherwise. I have never seen a complaint in the doggy forum when someone expresses condolences over a lost pet and mentions the heavens. Why is the mention of religion ok in the content of death but not in everyday life?

As an atheist in a sea of Christians, in a country that is at least partially governed with Christian ideals, i've learned you have to pick your battles carefully. arguing about easter carp on the internet is not one of those battles.

-1...keep your religious beliefs to yourself....this just ain't the place to preach your religious beliefs whether you pray to god, buddah, allah, or don't pray at all. Maybe there should be a forum for religion whether christian, jewish, or any other religion.

Are you kidding me? So Ozzie did you not know what this thread was about before you clicked in? Or did you just want to spread you cheer here?

I see lots of threads in the Discussion forums that I choose not to check out. Why? Because I know it will not make my day any better.

You should learn to do the same my friend.

And yes indeed.... He Has Risen!

Why can't people just say "thank you, you too," or just a simple "thanks," and leave it at that?

No sense in taking a non-confrontational greeting, and making it into one.

Like one of my co-workers was at a steakhouse one night, and asked their waitress how their prime rib was.

The waitress replied, "I don't know, I don't eat meat." Which made for an awkward exchange from then out.

When she could have said, "I don't know, but everyone here says it's really good."

nope not kidding....yeah I guessed what it could be about before I opened it but I like to read alot of threads. I opened it and made a comment. Live with it. It didn't make my day any worse but I shared an opinion...take it for what you want and I am glad I could spread some cheer here. Again I am not for religion on here just like I am not for religion bashing in any form. I just like information giving and sharing with other outdoor enthusiests (sp). Didn't mean to ruin your day and I didn't think my post was negative just a thought. Good day sir.

This and other sites are way more than just info giving and sharing. It / they may have started like that, but its evolved into bigger than that, IMO. I've met a number friends here and elsewhere that have turned into "outdoor family". In a strange way, some of the those I haven't met are like family too. More like the in-laws or the "outlaws" of the family. We aren't all gonna agree or have the same opinions or beliefs. We aren't all gonna get along and play like adults (I don't / haven't on a few occasions)...we're humans.

I chose to thank God for the blessings and my life(many of which are outdoor related) made possible b/c of Easter and to share that with some of FM family I know. I figured those sensitive to God / spirituality (I do not like Religion, btw) might have a word or two, but I'm not sensitive enough to care I guess. In not way was I intentionally "stirring the pot" though.
