Manning to sign with Broncos

As a longtime Broncos fan, I'm ecstatic! Not only just for the fact that they are bringing in Peyton, but for them having the option to get rid of Tebow. It should be interesting to see what Tebows trade value is over the coming weeks. I"m guessing he ends up in New England as a wild cat guy for Belichek. 2nd round pick perhaps?

I'm not sure what he sees in Denver. Even with Manning I still see an early playoff exit for them. If he really wanted to win another Superbowl why wouldn't he pick the 49ers. They are returning all 11 starters on defense and they significantly upgraded their WR's by signing Moss and Manningham. With Manning at QB the 49ers would have been a VERY tough team to beat. I couldn't imagine a more well balanced team, they'd have a great defense, a good running game, and also the passing attack.

I know he didn't want to prevent his brother from also making the superbowl but it had to be tough to turn down that sort of team.

I guess he did the NFC a huge favor by signing with Denver.

I agree Nofish. I find his choice quite confusing.....

it isn't just about the talent. Manning is very demanding, he probably wanted a front office and coaching staff that meshed with him better than the 49ers did. Just a guess

And the Broncos have a good defense, a pretty decent running game, and some up and coming young WRs. I think they will be pretty good on offense

I'm sure thats what it was. It has to do more with personalities then talent I think. I'm sure he just thinks he'll be allowed to run the offense in Denver were as in SF he'd have to play within their system.

They said on the radio the contract will be around 5 yrs, 95 Mil with the garunteed money around 45 mil. Thats a heck of alot for a qb with a surgically repaired neck. Not saying its a bad deal, but I had a hunch he was gonna go where they offered him the most $$$$$ and I think thats what happened... after all this will be his last contract and he's human like the rest of us!

J. Harbaugh is a complete Richard and with Moss on board now i dont think he wanted to deal with that circus.

I also think John Fox is a good coach, he will be smart enough to be flexible and let Peyton run the offense his way and concentrate on D.

Quote:
..Man’s obituary says he wanted to die before Broncos acquired Peyton Manning.

By Chris Chase

A Denver Broncos fan died on Monday, before he had to see his beloved team sign one of his least favorite players.

According to his obituary in the Columbia Daily Tribune, 78-year-old Jim Driver "wanted out" before he had to see Peyton Manning don a Broncos jersey. This is the lead paragraph from that obit:

James H. "Jim" Driver, 78, of Eagle, Colo., formerly of Columbia, passed away Monday, March 19, 2012, at South Hampton Place in Columbia after a brief illness. An avid Broncos fan, he abhorred Manning and evidently wanted out before a deal was done.

That's all sorts of fantastic. You know the old adage: If you're gonna go out, go out with some style and/or by taking a shot at the player you hate the most.

Obituaries for private citizens are usually submitted by family members, so it's likely that one of Mr. Driver's relatives had some fun with the wording of the piece. No word on what he would have thought of the Tim Tebow trade.
