Had a little fun with the Aqua Vu Micro tonight

Found some green weeds that were holding some nice Metro crappies. I tried a few things with the camera and have some more ideas i would like to try.

In one segment, you can see a top view looking down at the jig. I actually took a short dropper line and tied it to the clip and was literally fishing with the camera. You can see the footage get jumpy, and that is me jigging. grin I actually caught one and you can see it bite, but during the battle, the positioning clip came off and I thought I lost it for good. frown. But guess what, a few minutes later, there it was floating in my hole. What are the odds of that thing floating up right into my hole? smile

Anyways, this little camera is a lot of fun and I was really impressed with the image clarity and cripsness. You can see in the video that as the darkness increased the particles did too (as with all other UW cameras) and the video doesn't do the clarity any justice. With the processing and compression you lose quite a bit. But hopefully its a decent representation.

Compared to a full size camera, the thin line is much easier to spin around and look, but it still wanted to sway. There is a clip to attach a weight that might help a bit with that. I will try that next time out.

I don't think this will compete with the full size units for setting up and watching it to fish, but it will blow the others out of the water for hole hopping and looking for structure. Not to mention, there are endless (non fishing) uses for this thing. There is a video on YT with a guy flushing his down the toilet looking for some sort of toy that was dropped in there. I've also talked to a member here who uses his for his pest business dropping it down chimneys looking for critters.

The fact that it fits in a pocket is awesome.

The DNR says 1.6 ft clarity on the Secci disc for the lake we were on. I think it was a bit clearer than that because with the windows closed I could see those weed tops (which were about 5 ft down) when looking down my hole.

Secchi disk readings are really only taken from late May/June to late Sept. early Oct. Most all waters clear up a bit in the winter months, not much growing then.

Very nice DTRO!

I love how small tghis unit is yet gives such a nice image. I haven't used a camera ice fishing due to dragging something else along when I'm running and gunning. This will fit in my pocket.

Great video! I have been using mine with the pro-snake & the Mod3 Pod. For a portable camera this Aqua Vu micro is nice to watch while sitting in your house also.

I found that the thinner wire for this is much harder to control the direction of the camera compared to larger versions of underwater cameras. It is a pretty handy camera and I felt it had pretty good battery life.
