Locked Bucks

I was out pheasant hunting with my dad and some friends in Jackson County when we came along this sight. A couple of big deer, 12 point and a 9 point buck, that had died locked together. Called the local CO and got permission to collect them and I am going to get them mounted.

Very sad, hell of a way to go. Glad someone found them who'll put 'em to good use though. Keep us updated, we'd love to see the final product.

They are a couple of dandies. Mother nature took them away for sure.

We found 2 like that a couple years back in ND. Yes, they are on the wall.

How long do you think they were dead for? Edible?

Sure doesnt look like they have been dead long. I would think that the scavengers would of found them if they were stinking...were they stinking??? Awesome find! To bad your hunting party couldnt of shot them!

They had been dead for awhile, just starting to smell so I would guess probably a week or so. the two days close to 60 probably didn't do it any favors.

It's hard to tell from the pics...how did they die? Did they starve to death? They don't look THAT thin.

Exhaustion maybe?

Im sure a combination of exhaustion, dehydration and starvation. The stomach on the buck with the bigger chest was really sucked in. You really can't really see it on the photos. Here is the photo of how we originally found them.

Picked up my mount the other day. I can say it looks pretty darn good. Pictures really can't do it justice because you need to be able to walk around it to see everything. I'll see if I can't take a few better photos and get them up here.
