I saw a picture on facebook of a huge buck supposedly scoring over 200...possibly shot by Spring Valley? Anybody know anything about this deer?
I seen a pic of the buck you are talking about in the local paper they said it was shot 9 miles west of chatfield. If I remember think it scored around 240" and had thirty some points it should go down as one of the largest non typicals ever taken in minnesota.

The deer pictured above is a great buck but it's no where close to 200". It's a heavy typical 8 with a couple kickers (deductions) and relatively short brows. I don't think it'd net past the upper 150's. I'd like to see this other buck that is allegedly 200"+.

I agree stratos. When I see a huge deer I always look at the hunters head and the deer's head. If they are relatively the same size, I think the pic is pretty good and you can get a legit idea of the rack. When the deers head is 2x the size of the person, it is great camera work, as in the above pic. It looks like it has a head the size of a holstein cow. That is definitely a great deer, but not anywhere near 200. He is not even that massive. His fingers almost touch going around the antler.

If you look at his hand that is holding the antler you can see that his fingers arnt fully extended. If they were his thumb would be touching them. Looks like someone went through some trouble to try and make a very nice deer look even bigger. I always have have a problem with fish and deer looking smaller than they are since I am so tall. I have a friend of normal stature get in a picture with deer I shoot for comparison.

You guys are so stinkin funny. Maybe just a rookie behind the camera? Judge Judge Judge... LOL

A rookie behind the camera? I'd say its a pro behind the camera. Thats a really good deer and the photographer made it look like an amazing deer.

Really I have no problem at all with the picture. Of course its a little out of proportion but its no different then long arming a fish to make it the focal point. I personally think this photo is much better than a lot of others I've seen of dead deer in the back of the truck or with the hunter standing over the deer pulling its head up with the tongue hanging out.

I'm wasn't dissing the photo. It's a great photo of a great deer, but it is misleading to the point that it doesn't look natural to me. I try and put the deer away from me when I take photos, but also don't want the thing to look like a cow. it looks too much like they are trying hard to make the deer look like something that its not.

Jeez.....I only put the photo up to see if it was the one talked about in the original post, not to have it ripped to shreds over and over! WOW....talk about a tough room. Anyways, since that isn't the buck in question, who has a picture of this massive beast?

you are right about a tough room. lol lotsa threads are rip rip rip. I'd be happy as all get out to drop a buck like this that's smaller than his pic crazy. The bright flash is a rookie mistake. Makes that head look humungous. And the guys arm is bent so me thinks just a guy having a friend take a pic of his dandy buck.
