Excited for potential SNOW!!!!

Recommended Posts

First year hunting was the year of the Halloween Blizzard....so I "grew up" hunting in deep snow my first few years. Lately there has been very little snow during our rifle season.....but....I am daydreaming about snowflakes and a cold NW on Saturday......and waking up to a white ground on Sunday.

Can't beat the first snow of the year from your deer stand....love it!!!!

I just saw a forcast for 50% chance of rain on Sat the 5th with SSE wind of 14, 50% chance of mixed rain and snow for Sun 6th and a 22 mph wind out of the WSW with a high of 34 and low of 22. Sunday will be a tough day to sit all day but the accumulation of snow might make Monday's hunt nice. Monday they are callin for a sunny day, high of 38, wind WNW at 7-8mph.

I look at 4 sources...Accuweather.....never correct......Weather Channel/Weather.com.......maybe 50%.......NOAA...about 75% or Better.....and Too Tall Tom Szymanski formerly of KVLY in Fargo now out of Bismark....at 80% or better

So... I am thinking rain Saturday...hopefully changing over to snow around 3:30 pm North of Bemidji...or so I hope

Hutch Johnson of KVLY just posted this.......

Expect breezy, cloudy but mild weather this evening for all of the trick-or-treaters. A MAJOR winter storm is looking more likely for portions of the Valley this weekend!! Several inches of snow, wind and cold will hit North Dakota and northern Minnesota

Don't forget you Southerners...and City guys..it is normally 10-20 degrees cooler in the Northern 1/3 of the State...what is rain for some may be snow for others.....

But....it is time to go get some candy now

Wind killed the deer season for us last year, hoping it stays away this year but it doesn't look very promising. 2 days ago there was an 80% chance of rain the southeast, now it looks like Saturday will be good and Sunday will be lousy, I'm sure it will change again very soon. Temps seem to go up every time I check on the weather.

Looks like snow is a good possibility this week in central Nodak!!! To say I'm pumped would be an understatement. From my experience, the snow and cold keeps most of the fair-weather hunters in the pickup trucks, and leaves the public land relatively untouched. Love actually being able to shoot a deer or two that haven't been pushed for 10 miles! Give me a foot or more and I'll be a happy camper!!! BRING IT ON!!!!!!

Gonna put up my Double Bull ground blind and park it under some pine tree and put old fake plastic Christmas tree limbs hanging on it's stubble straps!

The deer like to bed in the pines during a snow fall so i'll be waiting for them in the blind.

Think I might set up my video camera and see if I can video while hunting!

Might bring my heater in there too! grin

I've seen the forecast change 5 times today on my favorite weather site. Rain, freezing rain, flurries, sunny, cloudy, windy... I think there is still some uncertainty with that storm that's eying the Red River Valley. I'll take any weather that allows me to go hunting.

Looks like a real [PoorWordUsage] Shoot for many of us. SItting in a cold rain sucks...then sitting in a cold windy reain...really sucks....rather have the snow..or bring my shotgun and go find some ducks.

Any rain after Halloween is just a waste of good snow.
