wow that was easy thanks bety0108...basically i just got a photo of this deer when i pulled my sd card this weekend... i am not an expert on guessing ages of deer but he looks alot bigger body than alot of my other bucks on camera and i have a bigger 8 pt in some picures... so was just looking for some expert advice if he is an older deer and just had little growth because it seems he already has a funky looking rack..thanks kujo

A lot changes when they're 2.5. They seem to have ok racks smaller body or they put more into the body and less into the rack. We have taken a few really good sized 2.5 year olds that we thought were 3.5 years back by sending the sample into Madelia, MN and they aged them for us.

2.5 year olds. hard to say if the bigger one is really just a big deer, or if the other one is just a much smaller deer. How they started out in life might really effect the size of the deer. Did the smaller ones mom get shot when it was a young fawn, and not have the same opportunities as the bigger one, was it a twin or triplet, where the mom had to try and feed more than one fawn, where the other was a single. Hard to say, judging by rack size alone I will stick with 2.5. The body of the big deer also leans towards 2.5.
